If I were to buy a royal caribbean coupon book on ebay for diamon or any of color, would I be able to use the coupons on the ship if I am Gold member. I saw some coupon books online and would like to get them if I can accually use the coupons but it would be a waist if I couldn't use the coupons on the ship.

THANK YOU

The coupon books are only valid on the cruise that is booked and valid for the Crown & Anchor member they are issued to. You would be wasting your money, if you are already a gold member the coupon books will be in your stateroom when you board a ship.

I too would say some may work since you would get the same coupons in your own book perhaps.

You would have to sign for the coupon and they would know your level though if someone was checking.

they dont specifically say what level they are for .. and I dont think they are worth all that much anyway, as I dont use them hardly. Maybe the bogo glass of wine.

Was just on FOS and I used my Mother in Laws coupons with no problem. She was on the sailing with us, but I used the casino ones as well as the BOGO beers and internet...both the 30 free minute one and the 20% off package. I never showed my sea pass card while using them either. I have never sailed RCI before and our 1 and only other cruise was 14 years ago. I didn't know that I should have had to show my card.

The right answer is YES, you would be able to use them. Rarely if ever will anyone ask to see your seapass card when using a coupon from those books and if it did happen the coupon does not specify that it is only for the use of a specific guest level. Prior to becoming Diamond I bought the Diamond books on eBay for the free internet usage and my C & A level was never questioned. Of course I used the ones for BOGO drinks also with no problems. So buy them and enjoy the savings... that's why RCL printed them.

The person who answered that the books are for a specific ship and a specific sailing is also wrong. Can you imagine RCL printing books for each sailing? What would that cost? The books are printed by the boat load (sorry for the pun) and distributed fleet-wide. There may be some variations due to ship sizes and venues available but once a book is out it usually is the same book for about a year or more. We've used coupons from previous year's sailings with no problem.

Ashland, no ... you just go to guest services with the coupon prior to your first internet use. Hand them the coupon and they ask your cabin number. You tell them the number and they enter the coupon onto your account. The only time you use your card is when you sign in at the computer to set up the account info. If you are using D or D+ coupons for the free minutes just keep track of how much time you have used and then go back with another coupon and start over when you are out of time on the first one. You'll have to use a different log-in or password for the second, third, forth, coupons. But no one need ever see your seapass card. And, if they did, who is to say that your hubby isn't D?

On my recent (Oct. 2nd 2011) sailing on the Freedom the coupon book in my cabin was printed specifically for that sailing and imprinted with coupons only valid on Freedom of the Seas current sailing with the sailing dates on the coupons. Granted the bartenders or other ships personnel may not really pay attention to the coupon (although I had one bartender that did) but I know that Royal does print them for the specific ship and sailing date.

the sailing date was actually on the coupon or just an expiration date?

I am diamond and gave one of my photo coupons to my daughter-in-law. She could not use it because she was not diamond, I had to sign for it.

To the person who said they had to sign: The coupon does not state that the person using it has to be any specific C & A leverl. Only the coupon book cover states the C & A level for which the book is intended. No one can deny any holder of any of those coupons being able to use because of the way it is worded.

To the Oct 2nd, 2011 sailing on Freedom: It would be financially impossible for RCL or anyone else to print those coupons specific for each sailing. Figure it out! Maybe average 4,000 people per ship broken into how many different C & A categories? How many variations of the book would that be. Do you think they own a printing company? And even if they did how would it work to print them every week before the sailing and get them where they need to be. Royal does not print them for specific ships and sailing dates! Sure they say "for this sailing only" but that doesn't mean that the coupon changes! They depend on people like you reading that as a specific expiration date... which it is not. To print specifc coupons for one sailing for all of the various C & A levels for one week's use is simply cost prohibitive. The coupons books are used for a year or more at a time. The Loyalty Ambassador has cases of them in her closet.

The coupon book I had was printed with valid on Freedom of the Seas Oct. 2-Oct 9 2011 on the coupons. Seeing as how Royal Caribbean knows when it's ships are sailing it is not difficult to have a printing company that prints these coupon books and in whatever fashion that they want. I'm really not concerned with how they do it but I am telling you what I received in my stateroom and what was printed on them.

My most recent Ultimate Value Book had a place in the lower right corner and was stamped "Valid During This Cruise" a version #.. dates, and expiration date that was for 7 mos. later..So seems to me thay would have to be used within that time period on that ship..Also I have always been asked to fill out any coupon with my info I was going to use..

I guarantee you it did not have a date on it. You might not care how they do it but I'm in the pubishing business and I can tell you that they could not afford to print coupons for each sailing with the date of the sailing. 4 color printing is expensive. That would cost them $500 a book to print. Does that make sense? The only way they can afford to print those coupon books is in mass quantity. 3 to 4,000 at a time would be impossible for anyone to afford to print. The waste from trying to print that few books would cost more than the books! Then what would they do with the ones that didn't get used? Throw them away? (Cause they wouldn't be good for next week.) You have to order 100's of 1,000's at a time to make the price reasonable. Find one from your cruise...it won't have that exact date or your ship name! I realize that you think they did but if you are talking about the Crown and Anchor Ultimate Value Booklet they did not.

Correct Ashland but not stamped: Printed to look like a stamp. That's different! Valid during this cruise (like I said earlier) a version # (that tells them which ships it works on -- some don't have Johnny Rockets or specialty restaurants) and an expiration date that started out being a year away when they first starting using that version but since your sailing was about 5 months into it the expiration date was 7 months later. You do have to fill in your name, cabin number and folio number from your seapass card for the server sometimes. You don't have to show your card and you don't have to be any specific C & A level to use the coupons. Signing the coupon is only so that the servers can balance their cash and that department where you use it can get reimbursed from C & A. They are not checking on you.

Someone else said in this thread that if you have to buy them they are not worth anything. If you buy one with an internet coupon that would have cost you $10 to pay for and 2 BOGO free wine coupons that save you another $10 and you pay $5.00 for the book with free shipping how in the world are they not worth buying? (That's not counting the free photo, maybe free laundry, etc.) Just do the math.

I do not have any of the coupons because I used most of them and did not bring what was left home with me but trust me they were printed with the sailing dates. If you prefer not to believe me that is fine also. I'm going on the Majesty next weekend so I will be sure to triple check what is printed on my coupons and I will post my findings when I return. Cheers!

I´m having a coupon book right in front of me and each and every coupon has Diamond Member and Diamond Plus Member printed on it, so it´s pretty clear that it´s not for use at every level.

It also says it´s nontransferable and void if sold or otherwise exchanged.

I think the rules and T&C´s of the coupons are pretty clear about this.

Reading your posts on this topic are quite interesting to me. I just browsed through a thread this morning, where you were quite vocal about sticking to the rules when it comes to booze smuggling. Interesting to see that you are not as much a rule stickler when it comes to the use of coupons from the C&A booklet.

Thanks Paul, I have not cruised since the new books were out and had not seen the newest disclaimer about nontransferable and void if sold. Of course that makes a difference.

Is there a ship name and specific week for the sailing on the coupon or the cover now?

Up until now I figured RCL woudn't print the coupons if they didn't want them used. Or, said another way, I thought they would rather someone use them than have them thrown.

To your other point, smuggling is taking sales away from RCL. Using a coupon for discount is only encouraging people who might not have bought something otherwise to make a purchase because they get a deal.

I appreciate your update on this!
