frediver Posted November 8, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 8, 2011 We are heading back to Alaska next year and I was wondering if shore based Wi-Fi connections are available in port, ie ship to shore & free wi-fi hotspot?

paul929207 Posted November 8, 2011 #3 Share Posted November 8, 2011 Ask your cabin steward or waiter. They know where all the cheap/free places are.
frediver Posted November 8, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted November 8, 2011 Thanks for the replies. What I really want to know is if I can get a wi-fi signal from our veranda while in port?
cb at sea Posted November 8, 2011 #5 Share Posted November 8, 2011 Probably not...you may still be on the ship's wi-fi and it will cost you!

There is a fairly short distance that wifi will work. I have never been able to get on a network from my balcony (other than the ship network). sail7seas Posted November 9, 2011 #8 Share Posted November 9, 2011 Some people report they have gotten WiFi signals on their verandas in Caribbean but I have never been able to. Ask crew where there is free WiFi. They always know the best places.
