Cruiser 4 Life 66 Posted November 17, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 17, 2011 My cruise ship (Summit) leaves San Juan at 8pm. I was going to drop off my luggage around noon and explore Old San Juan for most of the day. What time do I have to check-in and get on the ship by? Thanks. Rare cruisestitch Posted November 17, 2011 #2 Share Posted November 17, 2011 Check in when you drop off your luggage. They will tell you the specific time to be back at the ship, but usually one-half hour before sailing. You probably won't want to cut it that close, however. I will be on the ship at least 2 hours before sailing. I won't be wandering around in the dark in an unknown city.
newcruiser09 Posted November 17, 2011 #4 Share Posted November 17, 2011 Good question, I had been wondering the same. Looking at the old daily schedules for Celebrity ships sailing at 8 out of San Juan, it looked like the mandatory safety drill was earlier in the evening to allow people to go to dinner for the late seating. If you're not on the ship for the drill, is there a different one you go to or do you not have to do it?
Rare cruisestitch Posted November 17, 2011 #5 Share Posted November 17, 2011 There is a different drill for those who aren't at the first one. The same happens if you miss the ship and join at the first port -- there is a separate safety drill for those passengers.
