2Ports Posted November 23, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 23, 2011 Two quick questions: Who is the current Captain of the Star? Does the Star stay on Tampa (EST) time or switch to local (CST) time? Need to know if I can make a private excursion, and yes, I did search this one. TIA

You receive a notice in your room the night you need to change your clocks (it's also printed in the Freestyle Daily).
mamabeac Posted November 23, 2011 #3 Share Posted November 23, 2011 The captain of the Star is Konstantinos Fafalios. He is highly visible around the ship and very personable. Our CC roll call members received invitations to take a tour of the bridge. We did have time changes. The first night we set our clocks back one hour and on Day 6 we turned them one hour forward. Hope you enjoy the Star and her wonderful crew as much as we did!
Cruisingirl2012 Posted November 23, 2011 #4 Share Posted November 23, 2011 I found this just searching for the captain's name. http://www.tampaport.com/News-Events-Calendar-Archives/News/Norwegian-Cruise-Line-makes-splash-celebrating-Tampa-as-its-newest-homeport
Cruisingirl2012 Posted November 23, 2011 #5 Share Posted November 23, 2011 With regards to ship time, I read the dailies that someone here had posted and it seems that the time changes were 3 or 4 times during the 7 days. Maybe this was before the actual Fall time change in early November.
bakerintn Posted November 23, 2011 #6 Share Posted November 23, 2011 The ship will be on the appropriate local time. The excursion companies know the ship's arrival and departure times well.
swedish weave Posted November 23, 2011 #7 Share Posted November 23, 2011 The October cruises were before the change in daylight savings time, so we changed the clocks twice each way. I think Fafalos may be about ready to go on vacation if not already gone. I am not sure who will replace him, since Gunnar Hammeron is going to the Pearl. Urban trekker Posted November 24, 2011 #8 Share Posted November 24, 2011 He is on vacation - he left the ship when it reached Tampa at the end of the Panama Canal cuise on Oct 16 - Captain and First mate both left - they work 3 months on - three months off. I got that information when we were given a tour of the bridge after the Captain announced at our M & G that he would arrange one for us. Didn`t hear who the replacement was going to be. Cheers Dennis Not exactly correct. Fafalos was still on the Star for our 10/16 and 10/23 cruises, but I think he was near his vacation time. Peter was also still there for those two cruises.
