"Rome on your own" shore tour??

Two years ago (or was it three!) our drop off point was close by the Piazza del Popolo.

Hi Barry, when we went on the QM2 in 2009 we were dropped off and met back at the gate in front of St. Peters Square/Vatican. That was a great starting point for us. Hope this helps! Have a nice cruise!

You can always do it yourself by train. Its a 10 minute walk to the station in Civitavecchia - Get off at S. Pietro station in Rome (not Termini) and you are only a few minutes walk from the Vatican.

In June this year we did this tour and were dropped off (and pciked up)right by the side of St Peter's Square - it was very convenient albeit a tad pricey!

When we went to Rome on a Cunard ship we contracted a private tour via http://www.realrometours.com/ William was our tour guide and he was fabulous. He met us at the train station. In April of this year, the drop off and pick up point was just outside of St. Peter's Square. A very convenient location to pick up Hop-on-Hop-off buses or any other tour buses. Yes, it is a bit pricey, but very convenient. There is also a very convenient public restroom in a gift shop right at the drop off spot!
