Transatlantic or Suez Canal transit?

I'm thinking of either taking a transatlantic (Liberty, Mariner or Navigator) or the Suez Canal transit on the Voyager that ends in Dubai (have to fly twice but I'm ok with that). Which one would you choose? Airfare is not a problem b/c I have tons of miles!

Hello ,

We have done many transatlantics and one Suez canal trip on Brilliance in Jan 2010 . We received a flyer today from an agent we used in the past for the Serenade's Suez transit in December 2012 and I want to book it yesterday, does that answer your question ?

I loved the mix of sea days and the day with 'scenery' transiting the Suez . It all depends on what interests you most, shopping, beaches or thousands of years of culture:cool: does the ship go to Aqaba for Petra ? truly a wonder not to be missed. The Brilliance went there but it seems to have been dropped on subsequent itineraries:(.

what ever you decide to do, happy sailing:)

I am thinking of doing the TA on the Voyager 16 days ending in Barcelona, then continuing on the b2b from Barcelona to Dubai, total of 31 days.

You might want to check on that. You would only have to get to New Orleans then fly back from Dubai. The prices seem very reasonable.

No too long from home and besides that a very good friend lives in Dubai, so I'm going to stay there for a couple of days and on my way back another few days in Holland too to visit my brother.

I have been looking at that itinerary too, and wish it included something other than Egypt, although the stops are all quite different. Somehow I feel I'd like to visit some other countries on such a long cruise! And Safaga is a heck of way from Luxor :)

RCCL have been very cautious about the political situation in Egypt, so you need to factor a risk of the itinerary being changed, of course.
