Sydney Departure

Recommended Posts

We will be boarding the Volendam on January 31st for our 14 day cruise to New Zealand. After checking out of the hotel can we drop off our luggage, check-in, and go back onshore for some last minute sightseeing? Our ship departs at 6:30 PM. Does anyone know the 'all aboard' time? Thanks.

I believe you will still need to be back on board 1 and 1/2 hours before. You need to be back on board in time for the life boat drill which is usually around 4 or 4:30. Just check your Daily Explorer and it will tell you the time.

Hal staff can also re-confirm what time you need to return.

Have a great cruise - we really enjoyed our time 'down under':)

If you want some time to explore Sydney before you get on boar d it would be better to drop your luggage at the docks. This is grabbed from you and the labels checked and it is put into lorries to take it up to the loading ramp. Do not check in as this will take a fair bit of time. Just ensure you are back to check in half an hour before the end time and you will get on quickly.

Have a great cruise and enjoy this superb harbour:)

When we embarked on the Volendam at Sydney Harbor, we dropped off our bags, checked in, had lunch onboard, went to our cabin to drop off our hand luggage, then went ashore for awhile. We made sure to be back onboard for the mandatory muster drill.

YMMV.

Harry: we stayed one week at a Marriott in Sydney for free using Marriott points, and enjoyed it.

We were on the December 5th sailing, which departed at 6.30pm.

The passenger safety drill was held at 4.15 pm.

Hi, does anyone know where the Volendam docks in Sydney...Circular Quay area or Darling Harbour? Thanks!

Barbara

We boarded the Volendam at wharf 5, Bangaroo and disembarked at the Overseas Passenger Terminal.

Here is the port site to check the dates for your cruise,

www.sydneyports.com.au/port_oerations/cruise_schedule

The cruise schedule is listed under the "Marine" heading.

It's right across from the Opera Buiding, next to the ferry boats, you walk straight off the ship in the rocks area, great location and make sure to have a beer in the Lowenbrau ratskeller in the alleys...

Reply to Harry 1954

Hi Harry, We stayed at Radisson Inn and Suites 72 Liverpool Sydney Australia prior to our Cruise on the Volendam. The following is the my review of the hotel I posted. "We stayed three days. The Hotel was first class. Good king size bed, large bedroom and bath room, wonderful air conditioning and the best shower I have ever had in a hotel. This hotel is extremely clean and the staff was just great. I would not even consider another hotel in Sydney. Other perks free internet and small kitchen. Overall a wonderful hotel." It also had a balcony which we enjoyed. This Hotel is near China Town.
