Smith disappearance still be investigated

Recommended Posts

When we went on Brilliance, we originally got their cabin. Ex-BF figured it out, thought I would freak out, and called RCCI to see if we could switch cabins. The agent actually laughed and said it was a common request when people figured it out--he switched us to another one about 8 cabins down.

So glad we switched. The poor couple that was in the cabin had to deal with gawkers and people constantly knocking on their door asking them if they could take a picture and asking if they were scared to stay in the cabin. I wouldn't have been scared, but would've been really annoyed. When I saw people wandering and asking where the cabin was, I told them it was up a level.

and folks wonder why RCI had a ban on carry on liquor. Doubt the truth will ever be known.

What in the world does this have to do with carry on liquor? No where in that article does it say he carried liquor onboard. Sorry, I just can't make the leap to your logic.

You beat me too it. I was wondering the same thing. If anything had to due with some one being very drunk would a person get drunker on carry on liquor then they would from bought on board liquor?

We actually stayed in that room in 2010. I was a little freaked out when I found out we were staying in that room. We had no problems and a wonderful room attendant.:)

According to news reports they were both very drunk, she couldn't find their room and was found sitting on the floor in the hall on the wrong deck. The liquor part is that absinthe was found in their cabin and you sure can't buy that on board. I am just repeating what was reported by the media at the time.

CAn you please tell us the cabin number, it seems to be common knowledge ? Travelling on brilliance in August and don't fancy staying in that cabin ( or even visiting it !)

If the guy was putting $200 a hand in the casino (as per the cited article), I hardly doubt he could have gotten equally as plowed via the onboard bar...seemed money wasn't much of an issue.

George bought absinthe ashore, which is illegal in the US because of it's ingredients and strength, and smuggled it onto the ship. There were several other incidents in that time frame where people got hurt/ killed because they smuggled booze onto the ship. The bartender staff can't control your boozing if they don't know about it.

It appears to be part of the legal settlements from that era that Royal clamp down on bringing liquor on board. Since then who has died from getting drunk in private and doing things like stand on the railings like the guy in Titanic? They keep falling overboard on Carnival and Princess, like the drunk 22 year olds joining the balcony club while balancing naked on the balcony railing. Luckily for them they were both good athletes and survived the plunge into the Caribbean Sea from deck 7.

Are they still blaming Royal Caribbean too?

I only saw a part of them appearing on the TODAY show. I thought I heard they received a settlement from Royal. Did they? I thought only the wife did.

When we cruised on the Brilliance we were told by the Concierge that their room on deck 10 was converted to a suite. Can anyone confirm? Also, the earlier reporting by the newspapers was that the hard liquor(150 proof) that they drank was brought on board by Russian mob members.
