winemistress45 Posted September 25, 2007 #203 Share Posted September 25, 2007 My 14 yr old won twice at Bingo in the same seating; walked out with $1600. Can kids play bingo on the ships? I know they can't go into the casino -- but I was wondering if the kids can particpate in other activities (like bingo), where they win money. I suppose its not like a bet has been placed, but don't you buy the card? I have a 16 and 17 and they feel left out not being able to do the casino. What is the age for gambling anyway? 18? grammy c Posted October 20, 2007 #205 Share Posted October 20, 2007 In August, on my B-Day, on the Mariner I hit a royal flush of diamonds playing video poker for a 1,000 dollars. The cool thing is, that I had found a queen of diamonds card on our hometown beach the week before and took it aboard for luck! What do you think? Luck or WHAT!:D
academicdeluge Posted October 23, 2007 #206 Share Posted October 23, 2007 I hit a $5 slot for $3200 on the RCL Navigator. Sure makes for a good day :D
booksjm Posted October 24, 2007 #207 Share Posted October 24, 2007 I won $1100 on the slots last year on the Spirit. I didnt even know i won i thought the machine was broke because it wouldnt let me spin anymore. LOL they didnt have any bells or whistles blowing just lights flickering. Boy did we laugh about that. My friend won $2400 on the poker table. He had a straight flush. All in all it was a great trip.
SarasMommy Posted October 26, 2007 #208 Share Posted October 26, 2007 This isn't exactly winning something, but my mom was booked on a 19-day cruise on the Queen Victoria for March 2006. A week before she was supposed to leave Cunard phoned her to say that they had overbooked the cruise, and if she would be willing to give up her spot, they would book her on the Queen Mary for February 2007 on a similar itinerary, except with fewer ports (my mom loves the sea days). They would upgrade her from a single room to a deluxe suite, and they would give her a $6,000 shipboard credit. So of course she said yes! She came home with tons of jewelry and still didn't use the whole amount, but it can be used towards a future cruise.

SarasMommy Posted October 27, 2007 #210 Share Posted October 27, 2007 ...my mom was booked on a 19-day cruise on the Queen Victoria... Sorry, I just noticed my mistake - it was the Queen Elizabeth, not the Queen Victoria. I was just reading an article on the Queen Victoria, which of course isn't in service yet, so I guess I had it on the brain!!!:o

yellowbird23 Posted October 30, 2007 #212 Share Posted October 30, 2007 I was playing the mining slot machine when you could feed it with real coins. All of a sudden, my machine wouldn't take the coins. What I didn't realize at first was I hit the jackpot for 1600 quarters. Then again on another cruise recently I was watching another girl play her last few quarters on another mining machine. She got up, I sat down and about 3 pulls later hit it again for 1600 quarters. I love that machine, except not on Sovereign of the Seas. that one is a dud! Going again for 11 days in December by myself and I sure hope I can handle being on a ship that long with a casino whenever I want it. YIKES! That's scary. Who will tell me to go to my room? Cheerysmom Posted November 1, 2007 #213 Share Posted November 1, 2007 My hubby won enough money playing roulette that he paid our "walk off" in cash!!!! and I had some pretty big purchases on that tab . .. some art, lots of booze, nice wine at dinner ... etc. Now I encourage him to play! pack2much Posted November 9, 2007 #215 Share Posted November 9, 2007 $50 quarter slots! Wooo Hooo!!!!!!! I overheard what appeared to be a very experienced veteran cruise couple at dinner ashore awhile back discussing onboard gambling strategies, and had to take note as they seemed quite serious. They said to make sure you get all of your gambling out of the way the first night or two as that's when the payouts peak. They figured the cruise lines pay out early so you will spend your winnings on board, and later in the cruise the payouts aren't as generous...who knows, makes sense to me! A fellow copper friend of mine who used to work at a casino says to play machines close to high pedestrian traffic areas. They pay out more frequently as to get the attention of those passing by to lure them in. I tried this and had no luck...but then again it was the 6th day of the cruise! Good luck!!! Cruise lines set their own age. Most is 18 and some are 21. I feel left out not doing the teenage nightclubs..;) .LOL Lets TRY and keep the casinos for adults. Its a good place to get away from the kids :p
odblnt Posted November 9, 2007 #217 Share Posted November 9, 2007 I saw the title of the thread but was not going to read through 209 posts to tell you that I have won $0 Thats right $0. I have probably lost maybe $100 total Robb I was going to remark that breaking even is a victory, but then I read your last sentence. In some ways, that isn't even that bad. When I was stationed in Korea, I had what I called my "OB Test" (OB being a brand of Korean beer). I would get a large (16 - 20 oz) bottle of beer and a roll of nickels. If the beer was gone before the nickels, it was a good night. Most nights, the nickels were gone LONG before the beer, though. Pete BTW - I notice from your signature that you're on your cruise now. Please post your updated finance figures when you get back.
kescott98 Posted December 13, 2007 #218 Share Posted December 13, 2007 When my family cruised Alaska, I won $27 on a nickel slot. And that was the only time I've played a slot machine (not really a gambler).
cmarrero1014 Posted January 9, 2008 #219 Share Posted January 9, 2008 My wife and I did pretty well on a cruise in 2005. We won both jewelry contests, I guessed the correct carat weight of a raw piece of topaz (421 carats!) and my Wife was able to spot the fake pearl (her name was drawn from all the correct entries). That banked us two gold and diamond necklaces! Then, we won two framed pieces of art at the auctions by just getting raffle tickets for signing up. The free champagne was a plus too! mark3232 Posted January 10, 2008 #220 Share Posted January 10, 2008 My wife won a free cruise for 2 on NCL playing slots. It ended up being a great deal and could be used for any NCL cruise anytime. We ended up taking a 14 day cruise and were given a wonderful owners suite. We think that the value was about $30,000. BTW all drinks were included and they gave us bath robes and all sorts of gifts. Bad news was we payed $8000 in taxes to IRS. Still it was something we would have never done other wise.
susibell2 Posted January 20, 2008 #221 Share Posted January 20, 2008 My DH only plays nickel slots, and usually one certain machine, and has done very well. Last cruise he won enough to pay our ship charge and then some. About $1100. Same for another one of our cruises. that one had charges on for a pair of diamond earrings and bracelet. So I don't mind him playing. Last week we went to the Hard Rock casino in Tampa and he won 500.00 ,all he put in was 20.00!!
sandy220376 Posted February 11, 2008 #222 Share Posted February 11, 2008 I just came back from a 7 day cruise on the Pacific Sun. Left Brisbane on the 2nd February to the 9th February. I won Bingo on the last day....won $4620. Ended up giving half to my mum, who was also on the trip with me. (We also go halves if we play bingo). But still $2310 paid for my trip . Free holiday isn't bad :) :) :) :)
