maureenk Posted February 3, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2012 I thought I had read someplace that Holland America stays on ship time while St. Martin time is one hour ahead but now I can't find any reference to it. Does anyone one know if the ship changes time to be on St. Martin time or if the ship stays on it's own time and there is a 1 hour time difference? I know that there will be info on it in our daily papers but just trying to plan. Thanks!
indy71 Posted February 3, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 3, 2012 I called Holland America a couple of weeks ago, and was told that they always go on local time. Hopefully, the agent knew what she was talking about.

St. Martin will be 1 hour ahead, on Atlantic Standard Time. Florida, of course, will be Eastern Standard Time. If the ship instructs you to put your watch ahead ahead one hour before arriving at the island then you will be synched with AST and ships time will be the same. If they don't, then keep your watch on ship's time as you wander around the island.
kcparrothead Posted June 12, 2012 #4 Share Posted June 12, 2012 We will be leaving on Friday & since it is now daylight savings time, will our Carnival ship time be the same as St. Maarten time?
Rare Keith1010 Posted June 12, 2012 #5 Share Posted June 12, 2012 Carnival is one of the few cruise lines that seem to go with ship time rather than local time. You can confirm that once on the ship. Keith

gtaylor Posted June 17, 2012 #8 Share Posted June 17, 2012 Also, for anyone who might be interested, if you're sailing from San Juan, Puerto Rico, they're the same time zone as St. Maarten year round. gary
