NKsDogWalker Posted February 9, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 9, 2012 I plan to get some writing done when I am on my cruise in June. Does anyone know if a 17 inch laptop will fit in the cruise safe? If not are there any other suggestions (besides not bringing it) to keep my computer safe?
firefly333 Posted February 9, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 9, 2012 For sure it will not fit. Not a chance. I would put it in my unused suitcase and slide it under the bed. I have a 10.1 inch android and could not fit it in the safe on Triumph.
mountainbreeze Posted February 9, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 9, 2012 Yes, I agree with Fire, your laptop won't fit in the safe. We were on the Destiny in May and we took our laptop. There was no way it would fit in the safe. We kept ours in a drawer when we weren't using it.
Kevin_Mac Posted February 9, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 9, 2012 I was on Destiny last week and as others stated, it will not fit. My Netbook however, did actually fit!
cdamion Posted February 9, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 9, 2012 Those times that I brought my laptop, I just kept it in its case hidden from view, either in a corner or under the bed. It was out of sight though, so if somebody happened to enter the room, they would not see it or the case out in the open. You can hide it behind a laundry bag or something so if somebody bad does come scan the room it doesn't stick out as anything valuable. Alternatively, bring a netbook - that does fit just fine. firefly333 Posted February 9, 2012 #6 Share Posted February 9, 2012 Netbooks didnt fit on Triumph because the safe door would not swing open far enough. I know I have fit it on another ship, but not this one and I would assume Triumph and Destiny are very close in specs, almost identical. Maybe it also depends on what kind of cabin you have if the door to the safe will not swing wide open.
Dee777 Posted February 9, 2012 #7 Share Posted February 9, 2012 We just got off the Spirit last weekend. Between DH and I, we had: a Motorola XOOM, iPad, pod Touch, Sony Reader, and a Toshiba laptop along with our Blackberries. We kept them on top of the counter beside the electrical outlet when we weren't using them. We had no issues. The safe is certainly not large enough for your purpose! Maybe it also depends on what kind of cabin you have if the door to the safe will not swing wide open. I have an HP netbook and it fit in the safe on Destiny in a 5A. If it was even 1cm bigger, it would not have.
NKsDogWalker Posted February 9, 2012 Author #9 Share Posted February 9, 2012 Thank you so much! :) I always keep my laptop in the case and only take it out when I am using it. It will be me and 3 room-mates (Lord help me) so I will have to find a good place to keep it when not in use. We are going cheap and just doing a inside state room on a lower deck.
