SugarNSpice8104 Posted February 16, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2012 Will be on Navigator in March out of Ft Lauderdale and plan on doing the walk off the morning before we leave. Has anyone done this recently and if so, what time were you off the ship? Also, if flying out of FLL what time did you make it to the airport? cb at sea Posted February 16, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 16, 2012 The airport is only 10 mins (or less!) away....Unless you have a very early flight, there's no need to rush!

DonnaK Posted February 16, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 16, 2012 Unlesss there is an unusual circumstance, such as the ship arriving late, you should be at the airport in plenty of time for that flight. No worries.
krispi Posted February 16, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 16, 2012 We did this in November, and I want to say that we were on the road a little after 8:00. It was a little disorganized because there were so many people wanting to walk off, and be sure to get there earlier than the ship tells you to to get a good group number for leaving the ship. DonnaK Posted February 16, 2012 #6 Share Posted February 16, 2012 Also, make sure that you can lift the suitcase by the handle onto the escalator with one hand and that you have your other had free to hold the escalator hand rail. Otherwise they make you use the elevator, which often has a long line. (We breezed past a long elevator line and went right onto the escalator)
SugarNSpice8104 Posted February 17, 2012 Author #7 Share Posted February 17, 2012 When do they issue the numbers? That morning or the night before?
citrusflorida Posted February 17, 2012 #8 Share Posted February 17, 2012 You don't need a number if you are self assisting (walking off). We just did this 2 weeks ago off the Navigator in FLL and we were off the ship, on the bus to the Park N Go lot, in our car, and headed home by 0750. Normally they can start debarking (or is it disembarking? I have seen both words used) by about 0700, so get in line 15-30 mins before that if you are in a hurry as the line forms quickly. honeypie72 Posted February 19, 2012 #10 Share Posted February 19, 2012 We got off yesterday and the ship arrived at 5:30 but there was some delay with immigration. I think we got off at 8am. The paperwork listed 7am as the time we'd be able to leave.
Ocean Boy Posted February 19, 2012 #11 Share Posted February 19, 2012 11:30 flight Piece of cake even doing it by the regular process.
SugarNSpice8104 Posted February 20, 2012 Author #12 Share Posted February 20, 2012 Abt what time would we be off if we waited to do the regular process after the walk off?
sml3 Posted February 20, 2012 #13 Share Posted February 20, 2012 The all clear from Customs and notification to begin disembarking came about 7:45 this past Saturday.
Rare BillOh Posted February 20, 2012 #14 Share Posted February 20, 2012 Abt what time would we be off if we waited to do the regular process after the walk off? Its a range, but usually all of the "regulars" are off by 10am.
Ocean Boy Posted February 20, 2012 #15 Share Posted February 20, 2012 Abt what time would we be off if we waited to do the regular process after the walk off? I beleive that for FLL flights anything before 11AM is considered an early flight and those folks would be off in the first group with maybe 11:30 included in that group depending on how many people aboard fall into the early category. If you get off of the ship by 8 AM you will still have plenty of time to hang around the airport waiting for your flight. We have always gone with the regular process and making a 11 AM flight has been a breeze. Last year we didn't even leave Oasis until around 9 AM. There were, however, only three ships in Port Everglades that Saturday morning so reaourses were not stretched.

Similar experience here ... Mom and I walked off as well in January. We were walking off the ship at 7:30 a.m. and in a cab by 7:40 a.m. It was crazy quick and easy. I was shocked.
