lotusbogardi Posted March 11, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 11, 2012 I have chronic sciatica, and sometimes need some support to walk. Because I'm in my 30s and vain I use a wooden hiking stick instead of a cane. I bought a walking stick that unscrews and fits into a pouch. I didn't realize when I bought it that it also has a spike at the bottom under the rubber tip. I'm not flying, but I am suddenly worried about whether this will be allowed onboard. WL56 Posted March 12, 2012 #2 Share Posted March 12, 2012 I would imagine that if you have it put together and use it as a cain as you embark, they won't say anything. Good luck :-) My mom uses a cain.
Splinter Posted March 13, 2012 #3 Share Posted March 13, 2012 I have a pair of collapsable walking sticks I use for hiking, and they also have the spike on the end as an option. I have flow with them a number of times in my carry on luggage and never had a problem. If you are really concerned, put them in your checked luggage.
