2 way radio

Any suggestions on a 2 way radio that works well while out to sea?

I have two Motorola ones I got from dicks sporting goods for ~50.00 five years ago (huge antennaes) they came with two chargers. The thing about them is that no walkies will work clearly from one end of the ship to the other and especially over several decks. They are at best good for short conversations like 'on my way to get food from buffet'. ... IMO some may be better.

We bought some from Walmart about 3 years ago for about $60. They are they ones that have the 5mile range. I don't remember having any issues. They are a life saver with kids.
