Lancy

Recommended Posts

We are going to book Liberty Eastern Nov 24 for my 50 th b'day. We have never booked balcony before. Worried about movement and smoking from other balconies. Any advice for budget friendly balcony choice. Having to walk long distances is absolutely fine for us. Also sis and husband want to book inside near us. Thank-you, Thank-you for your suggestions.:)

I did a fake booking for you and the best rate for a balcony for that cruise is $1764.94 inc port charges and taxes for 2 passengers. I selected Aft cabin 8445 which is where I could get an interior cabin for your family right across the hall in cabin 8447. Their rate for 2 passengers inc the port charges and taxes is $1204.94. To have their cabin close to yours is an additional $3/day/person, so they could have a cheaper cabin elsewhere for $42 less on their total bill. I think it's worth it to be across the hall. I celebrated my bday with a cruise and my DH and I had a balcony cabin and my sister and her DH had a cabin across the hall. We could order room service for breakfast and they would bring their tray over and we would enjoy it out on our balcony together. At the end of the day, they would come over and we would toast the evening with champagne out on our balcony. Really made things easy and convenient.

Midship is less movement from the ship, but I couldn't find cabins near each other. Aft possibly can feel the engine, but on level 8, it might not be that detectable. Smoking-wise, it can be a crap shoot. Sounds like having your cabins close is the important issue.

By the way, all the rates are Early Saver, which is your lowest rate. If the rate goes lower, you can possibly save on the difference. Last cruise, I saved over $800 on my family's total cruise bill, just by watching for price drops.

Have a great bday!!

Lancy,

Please join our roll call on the Roll Call pages!

There is quite a group there and we welcome you!

As far as a balcony.... If you pick a balcony on Deck 7, you guarantee you have cabins above and below you, which would be quiet. Unless, of course, you have unruly neighbors.. but that you can never tell.

Good luck in your decision, and looking forward to seeing you over on the roll call pages!

I would skip the drinks and get a balcony. Seriously we got a balcony last year and won't sail without one now. It is worth the cost. We give up perks during the year to help pay for our cruise every year. Adding the balcony was a no brainer. I love sleeping with the door propped open. The sound and smell of the ocean is priceless. As for smoking, guess I don't worry about it. Yea it's a PAIN IN THE ASS, but comes with the territory...

Only problem is once you get a balcony you will never go without one!

:D

A great way to save $$$ on cocktails is to order ahead of time from Bon Voyage (through Carnival) and they will deliver liquor to your cabin. You need to order this at least a week before departure. We have had a bottle of vodka and rum (at the time $40 each) and then we brought in our carry on, small bottles of mixer and juices. You can order room service every morning and get extra juices, refill your empty juice bottles and keep them on ice. I know this cut our bar bill down at least 70%.

Plus, you probably know that each adult can bring a bottle of wine or champagne in their carry on when they board.

We ordered the wine package (5 bottles for $153, I think that was the mid level one) and that saved money as well.

I know some people smuggle, but we don't do that.

I have to agree with the other posters, once you go balcony you don't want anything else!

Our first 3 cruises we had a balcony and loved it. To save some money when we did the Allure of the Seas last year, we went with an ocean view room. I missed the balcony so much :(. I will never book without one again. I agree with the above posters, get the balcony!
