kayhold Posted April 17, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 17, 2012 I plan to do a detailed picture review of our upcoming Fascination cruise. I was curious what peoples favorite things to see are. What's not focused on enough? What's overdone? Personally, I have never seen a picture of buffet food, so I definitely plan to get that. I also plan to get the funtimes and menus for this particular itinerary.
ilovecraig929 Posted April 17, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 17, 2012 Im just excited that another descriptive review of the fascination is on it's way!!! I'm looking at a cruise on her next feb so I've been doing as much research as I can. I don't think there's such a thing as 'too detailed' when it comes to cruise reviews, I like the ones that read live novels with lots of pictures!!! :) have an amazing time! I plan to take lots of pictures :D I love most reviews - the only thing annoys me is when people post the same picture of the same thing from 10 different views. Their right of course, but I tend to zone out during those.
okgirl Posted April 17, 2012 #5 Share Posted April 17, 2012 I like to see pictures of the crew, both candid shots with their names and casual shots of them at work. I also like to know what the weather is like and what the daily drink special is. Some action shots would be nice too especially around the slides or rope course..... But what I really like to see best are photo's that have been edited with a caption and sized so that they appear in the post to be about 6" square. Rare APDMOM Posted April 17, 2012 #6 Share Posted April 17, 2012 I love pictures and insider tips! I do read the extended reviews if I like the writing style of the reviewer. I like experiencing the cruise through the review. I always appreciate reviews here on the forum. My advice is to write as much as you want... People can always skip what they feel is overdone. Oh, I always appreciate timelines. What time did they get to the port? How long did embarkation take? How long was the muster drill/safety briefing? Etc. I skip over predominantly negative reviews, especially those in the member reviews section that have only negative comments where you have no option to respond. Warm Breezes Posted April 17, 2012 #7 Share Posted April 17, 2012 I like reading reviews that describe things that the reviewer thinks are a must see or do or things to avoid seeing or doing and why. I like to see descriptions of excursions that they do and the why/why not the reviewer would recommend them. The why's are important as they would tell me if the reason the reviewer likes/dislikes something is something that might matter to me or not, since most things are subjective the why's really do help in this area. I like to see lots of pictures (although I am not good at doing that myself :o). Thanks for taking the time to do this and I look forward to your review. I also like to see lots of pictures of the ports and write-ups on what everyone did. I like to know if there was that special something that they picked up in the ports and a picture of it. Truly I like everything about a review and appreciate the time and effort someone puts into doing one. :)

Rottweiler Puppy Posted April 17, 2012 #12 Share Posted April 17, 2012 What's not focused on enough? Constructive criticism of the cruise itself or not listing the pros vs cons. (though at times the opposite happens) What's overdone? The trip up to the cruise. I always skip that and go straight for the cruise info. I think a scale of 1-5 helps as well for most asked about things. Example 1-- Poor- Cant really be worse, it was a real let down 2-- Fair - Somewhat tolerable but not up to even minimum standards. Didnt kill the experience but did affect it a bit 3-- Average- about to be expected, worth the fare or investment 4-- Very Good- Above expectations, very pleased but always room for improvement even if its slight 5-- Perfect - Cannot possibly be improved upon, absolute perfection from the viewpoint of the reviewer

PROCRUISE Posted April 17, 2012 #15 Share Posted April 17, 2012 Always more interested in what made the cruise enjoyable as opposed to just complaints, which are usually very subjective. :)

KenMo Posted April 17, 2012 #17 Share Posted April 17, 2012 I like reviews with pictures. I'd also like to read about the shows/activities. A brief description and if you liked it or not and why. I like to read about what you did at the ports. Description, price, how you got there, did you like it. If you went a day early, I'd like to read about the hotel you stayed at and where you ate. If you'd recommend or not. I'm always looking for places to stay pre-cruise. I don't care for a blow-by-blow...but I do like a little detail. Sh1035 Posted April 17, 2012 #18 Share Posted April 17, 2012 If its not live try to post all days in 24-48 hours. I hate a good review that takes a month to complete. In the short term there's 100 post of great review we want more post. I give up checking back after a week or so. Agree more bikini shots :) love the fascination I see it weekly. megmno Posted April 17, 2012 #20 Share Posted April 17, 2012 I like reading descriptive reviews and enjoyed writing one myself last year, but I've seen some people complain about overly long reviews. I think when I write up this year's cruise I will include an "executive summary" section at the beginning so anyone who doesn't want to read the details can just read that. nlktx49 Posted April 17, 2012 #22 Share Posted April 17, 2012 I love to read reviews! The more detailed, the better - like a little background info on the writer, picture, then a day by day account of the cruise and the ports. Food porn is not so important, I think it's all been shown on other reviews. Weather info. Price info on excursions, cab rides, etc. Info on service received. And write it all before posting it, if possible. It's so disappointing to start on a great review, and all there is is one day! Don't do that to us! sharecruises Posted April 17, 2012 #23 Share Posted April 17, 2012 I really do enjoy all the reviews...I do think it is up to the "reviewer" what to post/how long/what details/pics and I appreciate most or just skim over if it does not apply to me I especially like >> food porn >> details about the entertainment on board (bands/shows etc) >> I enjoy specifics ( ie, name of restaurant/shop/tour guide in port if you can remember it) thanks
mpcaruth Posted April 17, 2012 #24 Share Posted April 17, 2012 I don't think there are enough review details on ports of call. Those picture reviews thst include lots of fun port photos are my favorites.
FlaGrl4Evr Posted April 17, 2012 #25 Share Posted April 17, 2012 I appreciate the reviews that have information on pre-cruise hotels and transportation. This is always a nice perk and good information for fellow CC'ers that may be leaving from that port for a future cruise. :):)
