southernmama Posted April 27, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 27, 2012 My husband and I are taking out first cruise in October on the carnival Freedom. I sighned us up for the late dining, my question is which of the 3 times is your favorite and why.
Cigar Dude Posted April 27, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 27, 2012 For us...late. Reason? No rushing around after an excursion or day on an island. We get back from an island stop and still have time to relax before dinner. The bad? After a late seating you have very little time to get to a show if you want to. Plus, you're so full you might want to just sit outside on deck or in a club...then head to your room to sleep! Regardless, I prefer late dining. Herfnerd Posted April 27, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 27, 2012 We like late dining. Prefer taking advantage of as much time we can in port and not rushing to get ready for dinner when we get back to the ship.

elcuchio24 Posted April 27, 2012 #5 Share Posted April 27, 2012 We like Anytime because we can always have a 2-top to ourselves and we can go....anytime.;)
RenoNanaOz Posted April 27, 2012 #6 Share Posted April 27, 2012 We always do late dining so we don't have to rush. After a long day in port or a lazy sea day. We can take a nap or go have martini's and sushi and still have plenty of time before dinner:)
CJinFLA00 Posted April 27, 2012 #7 Share Posted April 27, 2012 My first cruises we had always done early. Then we got stuck with late dining and loved it. No rush and service seems faster (not sure why). We will stick with late dining.
Meyer2 Posted April 27, 2012 #8 Share Posted April 27, 2012 We've only done early dining so far, because the time is close to our normal dinner time at home. My cruise that I leave on tomorrow, we booked 1 mth out, so we ended up with late dining & I look forward to seeing the difference.
klmorg Posted April 27, 2012 #9 Share Posted April 27, 2012 Your Time (or Anytime) Dining is the only way we will go. LOVE the flexibility of being able to go to dinner when you are ready & when you are hungry. Having less schedules to keep on vacation is another plus for us. We have always had better service than traditional dining as well. It's a no brainer for us, we can go early, we can go late, we can go anytime in between! dswift008 Posted April 27, 2012 #10 Share Posted April 27, 2012 My time is our first choice with late being second. When we first started cruising with young kids we took early. I was often disappointed because we would miss sailing away from ports.

Rare skittl1321 Posted April 27, 2012 #12 Share Posted April 27, 2012 We loved anytime. We didn't realize how many activities we missed by doing late dining, even if they always schedule it so you can see the main show. Although I was fine with the late dining, I won't go back. Never tried early. I guess it would depend on the port schedule.
travlngrl1996 Posted April 27, 2012 #13 Share Posted April 27, 2012 I prefer late as well. As others said, I don't have to rush from an excursion and if it's a long and grueling(sp) one, I have a chance to relax before dinner.

usafchick1980 Posted April 27, 2012 #15 Share Posted April 27, 2012 We always do early because we don't like eating too late. Most of the time there is a group of us but when DH and I go by ourselves I might see about doing Anytime.
abisha Posted April 27, 2012 #16 Share Posted April 27, 2012 I like late ..for same reason everyone else said. I also like having same waiters which you do not get with any time dining. DH and I always head back to room aroun 5-6 to relax/nap and then around 7:15 we start to get ready for our 8:15 dinner. Works out great. We always got to the 10:30 or 10:45 show in time. We loved the Freedom (just said her last week)..have a great time.
Moonchild72 Posted April 27, 2012 #17 Share Posted April 27, 2012 I like late dining also for the same reasons many of the above posters have mentioned. (not having to rush etc...) I've never had a problem seeing any of the shows or other activities with late dining. And I like being dressed and ready to go after dinner to the late evening activities. I may try anytime dining next time around just to see how it is.

ccruisequeen Posted April 27, 2012 #19 Share Posted April 27, 2012 Alone-Anytime; with a group-early. I'm on meds, and need to eat early to stay on schedule. Also, we can hit the early shows & relax or casino.
