THANKS FOR ANY HELP Because, for a lower cruisefare, you booked a "Guarantee Booking" where you chose a Oceanview Cabin, but located anywhere on the ship that Carnival (eventually) assigns it. You cannot decide you don't like the location, you're stuck with it. Whoever you booked with should have made sure you understood what you were signing-up for. ken
rockbock Posted May 1, 2012 #3 Share Posted May 1, 2012 You chose a rate code that doesn't allow you to choose your own cabin, but don't be too concerned. Most people who book Gty. rooms don't get the worst deck on the ship. I'm not saying it never happens, but you have a good chance of getting a better cabin this way. On my cruise last month, I booked about 4 weeks before the sail date and the Gty. cabins were $20 cheaper per person than the Main/Riviera deck cabins. I booked the Gty, knowing that the worst case scenario is that I get a Main or Riviera deck cabin in a bad location for $20pp less than if I booked a 4B and selected a midship on one of those decks. We ended up on the Empress Deck. I was quite happy. Going forward, if I can't book ES, I will always book a Gty. room unless there is a better room available at a cheaper price. RWolver672 Posted May 1, 2012 #5 Share Posted May 1, 2012 Whoever you booked with should have made sure you understood what you were signing-up for. ken That is exactly why I won't book with a PVP. The one time I tried, she was adamant about not being able to pick out the cabins we wanted. She kept telling me that I could only pick out a guarantee, then they would decide which cabin I got. I repeatedly told her that I want a specific cabin. Price was never mentioned so I have no idea why she thought I wanted a guarantee. I hung up and went back to a TA whom I will stick with on future cruises.

THANKS FOR ANY HELP Looks like you booked 'Fun Saver' as opposed to 'Fun Select'. At this time, for 7-1-12 out of NO, Fun SAVER (you pay your fare, Carnival selects your cabin) is showing as $696pp, Fun SELECT (you pay your fare AND select your cabin) is showing as $766pp. You should be able to upgrade to Fun Select for $70 pp if you'd rather select your cabin. (I emphasize 'at this time' because prices fluctuate)
