223 Summit Pictures

Recommended Posts

We were on the Summit last month and before we left there were many people wanting to see what the ship looked like after the re-furbish. It is quite lovely and I took 223 pictures from around the ship. Some are of the artwork, some of the grand buffet, but most are just of the ship. There are no pictures of the islands we visited, or of the shows, or of anything else. Just the various things, officers, and areas of the ship.

Enjoy: http://travel.webshots.com/album/582795168AHjWuH

Any questions, I will be happy to answer. I am also working on a review but it is going to be VERY LONG.

Wonderful photos...thanks for posting. Considering a Bermuda cruise on Summit for next year. Just curious as to if rooms were upgraded at all? and what food is and isn't charged extra for? thanks

Thanks, Ruthie.... This makes me feel better after hearing at least 3 conflicting stories about the post-Solsticized MDR on deck 5. Do you know if the entire deck 5 (2nd floor) MDR on your cruise was for "select" or if part of it was for "traditional" (not counting the section they walled off for Blu)? Of course, I realize this might vary by M-Class ship & we're going to be on the Millennium but just wondering about your cruise. The Summit was our very 1st Celebrity experience & loved every minute. We've now been on 3 of the 4 M-Class ships and the Millie will be our 4th + our 1st since the retrofits began.:)

All of deck 5 is select. We sat on the right side, were they took part to make Blu, the first evening and I think most of that area were the larger table of 4 to 8. We sat at a table for 6 that evening. The left side (and larger side) is mostly 2's with some 4's closer to the aft windows. But the way they have some of the tables laid out they can make larger groupings if needed. I'm betting that the Millie will be set up like the Summit. By now they should have a pretty good idea of what works and what does not.

I know what you mean about the staff. We loved our sky suite but what made our last Summit cruise special was the staff onboard.

We had one of the tables on the 2nd floor by the railing too....that is indeed a great spot.

Next time, try Blu...if its as good as other Blu experiences, it will be wonderful.

Did you eat in Normandie or Qsine?

We did try the Waterfall one night Sandi when we were a little rushed but wasn't impressed. But the food was so good in the dining room we wanted to experience it all to know what nights to make sure we eat there again :D and what nights when eating elsewhere is advisable. ;)

Great pix to help get us excited about our Bermuda run on Summit on May 27. One question: we enjoy having a pre-(late seating) dinner cocktail in a lounge with light music (acoustic guitar, piano, strings). Is this available anywhere? Is there music available in Michael's Club from 7:30-8:30? Anywhere else for a quiet drink with music? Thanks.

There was a guitarist in Michael's till 8 pm, never crowded that we saw. In the Cafe there was the Spanish guitarist & Vocalist till 8:45 but he became a bit much after awhile. :o I doubt he will be on the ship for Burmuda. They had a nice little combo playing in the RendezVous til 8:45 also and that is right next to the dining room. This place did tend to fill up more than many of the lounges. It and the Martini Bar. Most places we saw had nice relaxing music playing and general not very crowded but we were in a different port every day, so there wasn't much time to relax except after dinner.

Great photos. I can hardly wait till we sail in the fall. I discovered our favorite suite has just added a balcony, so we're in 7th heaven!

Is the gelato station the only place for ice cream or is it available at the Lido?

I don't remember seeing anything on this ship called the Lido but right inside the Waterfall Grill, on the left side, is the ice cream station -- free of charge -- with at least a dozen different flavors. Enjoy!!!

New carpet, fabrics on the furniture, draperies, bedding. About all they did in the regular cabin to the bath was removed the blowdryer (they now have a handheld in the vanity) and installed a night light. What a marvelous idea! Oh and they now have a 20" flatscreen TV in the regular balcony rooms too.

As for the food, Bistro on Five cost $5 per person for creperies. Qsine and Normandie also cost -- $40 pp. There is a charge for the Gelato, $4 I believe, but everything else is no charge -- Mast Grill (burger, etc), Spa Cafe, Cafe al Bacio, and of course MDR and Waterfall/Oceanside Cafe.

Thanks, Ruthie.... When you say the "right side", is that as you faced the front of the ship (which would be starboard) or as you faced the back of the ship (which would be port side)? The reason I ask this is that I've also read conflicting reports as to whether Blu was on the starboard or port side of deck 5.

Oh, one more question..... Did they still serve those fantastic "Sticky Buns" or caramelized cinnamon rolls in the Waterfall for breakfast on some mornings? As I recall, they usually served them on Sunday mornings until their somewhat limited supply ran out. They are really wonderful!:)

I did have 1 more question...this would be the smallest ship we'd sail on...though not by much, the Dawn is about the same....just slightly heavier. Just wondering how much you felt the motion during your cruise?

I was going to take pic of all of them but I never got that far. Here's a link to the menus posted months ago. It's pretty close with maybe only one item different on some evenings. ALL THE FOOD WE HAD WAS VERY GOOD!! Some was just better than others. The filet DH had melted in his mouth. He recommended it to a gentleman at another table and the next evening he said it was the best steak he has had in 10 years. The chateaubriand that I had the second formal night was to die for...... :D

Thanks for the reply! I'm happy (and drooling) to hear the food was great!

Cheers!

Tammy

Right side, I am talking as you are walking into the area. It would be port side of the ship. I figured it would be easier visualizing it as you would actually be seeing it coming from the elevators or the lounges.

I didn't see any sticky buns but Sunday was our first morning there for breakfast and I was still trying to get my barings. ;) I didn't see them any other time either. :( Too bad because they sound delish!!!

Of course we were only traveling in the evenings and not going far every day. We were at a new island just about every day. There was times we would go just off the island and then sit for hours. When you are only going 90 or so miles and have hours to get there.......? But even the day we were at sea, there wasn't any movement that I noticed.

Hi Ruthie... Thanks for confirming about the port side. As for the sticky buns, be sure to check 'em out next time. They are truly delish!!!:D I'm usually somewhat of a light breakfast eater but when they have those, I have two + a little fruit & love every bite!!

I just received notification that my WebSHots album has had over 43,000 hits. I think everyone want to see what the new Summit looks like.

Thank you for the wonderful photos. We were on the Summit last August and just booked again for THIS August, same Bermuda itinerary.

Do you happen to know if ALL the "regular" cabins were facelifted? We have a category 7 Ocean-view on Continental Deck.

Even if you don't know the answer to my question, thanks again for the great photos.

Looks great! How would you rate blu vs. MDR? We are in a suite in August, and have 4 dinners in specialty restaurants, but might want the others in Blu. Since we are in a suite, we will probably be allowed to dine in Blu if we decide on that option. Thanks

Your pictures were great Thank you! I noticed many of the pictures seemed as though no passengers were on board and there was always plenty of available seating. I assume you took many during port days? We are sailing July 29th! Cant wait.:D

Each and every cabin got the facelift. New carpet, bedding, drapries, and re-furb'ed sofa/chair PLUS a flat screen TV and the nightlight instead of the hairdryer in the bath. That I REALLY loved!

You have an excellent cruise. We both know that the service will be great!

We had a regular (but handicap) balcony cabin so we never ate in Blu. But here is what I was told by others. Only Aqua Suite cabins get to eat in Blu. No other people can. The menu in Blu is exactly the same as the MDR but might be served on different evenings. The offerings in the specialty restauants is no better than the food in the MDR especially for the $80 up charge for 2 people. The food in the MDR is very good but there are some things which are better than others. And a few are over the top!!! Qzine is great fun but the food is more like tapas than an actual dinner. But whatever you decide you will have a fun time. Enjoy!!
