76 = the number of times my GF was asked to have her hair braided.

The best was after being in the water at Orient Beach for 4 hours and still having them ask! If they could have braided that, I would have paid big $$.

The trick is DO NOT look like cruisers. That's the only people they ask. My wife and I were at Orient for 2 weeks and not a single person asked to braid her hair. Moreover, the hair braiders divide the beach into territories where other braiders only enter when there are lots of cruiser bait. Otherwise they get into shouting matches with one another when one violates territorial boundaries.

...look like a tourist? I live in Orlando and know how to do that here, but I have no idea what being a local is like in St. Martin?

Kal, anything you can suggest would be great, I want to relax and enjoy the beach.

As a very first step, don't use the towel provided by the ship, especially when on Carnival. Those towels have the word CARNIVAL in 18" high letters.

OR, the big shopping/beach bag emblazoned with St. Maarten and some poseys!

The answer is to wear a wicked weasel with a nice tan....NO SUNBURN or cameras.
