Passport Application Question

So I booked my first cruise a couple of weeks ago, and upon reading this forum decided to go ahead and pony up for a passport. While filling out the application, it asks for my parents place of birth. Do they want the city, state, or country of their birth? Any help greatly appreciated.

If US, I would put city and state. If no, just the country

Just as an FYI, you don't have to fill in that part... I wasn't sure what cities my parents were born in, so I left it blank -- no problem.

I just put U.S.A.

As much info as you can. If you don't know the specifics, that should be OK. But you don't want any more reason to hold up your passport. It takes long enough as it is.

I agree. Try to fill it in assuming you have the information.

I figure they mean the county and state (if born in the US) as it's usually the county that issues the birth certificates.

They really mean city not county.
