Planning on booking an enchantment cruise out of Port Canaveral next spring.

Any good tips on balcony cabins for this ship? I haven't been on this class before.

Thanks,

Sue

Just got off the Enchantment this morning. I would avoid the cabins (including the balconies) in the stretched area. Just my opinion, but they are/were very oddly configured and they looked and felt extremely cramped.

On a side note, we did have a front row seat for a crazy disturbance and subsequent passenger ejection on Deck 8 midway through the cruise. Kind of weird having a security guard hanging outside your cabin for two days.

We just got back from an Enchantment cruise. We had a balcony room (7572) on the starboard side near the center of the ship. It was very comfortable and roomy. I believe the entire 7th deck is balcony rooms and most of the 8th deck is suites. We found it a great ship with something to do all the time.

One comment we heard from a person who had a Jr Suite on the 8th deck was that the midnight pool parties were very loud. They suggested that if you are on the 8th deck, go to the party..... :)

I don't want to get too far off subject, but, what happened on deck 8? We did not hear anything about it on deck 7.

What are the cabin numbers in the area that was stretched?

I am thinking maybe the cabins on either side of the Library and Crown and Anchor study might be good as you only have one neighbor.

Has anyone stayed in those rooms??

Interesting.

We're on Enchantment next month, and I was pleased to get a cabin in the stretched area - primarily in the hopes it will be less worn than others, given the age of the ship. Hadn't thought that they may have a different configuration. Ours is just an oceanview.

That is kind of in the area that is/was stretched. We had interior cabin 8577 and it was perhaps the oddest configuration I've ever seen on a cruise ship. You literally opened the door into the middle of the room and closet/bathroom doors could not be opened at the same time. It was not awful but seemed cramped even compared to our rooms on the Sovereign, Monarch, and by my aging memory the Nordic Empress. I know the sq footage is bigger but the layout was odd. The balconies across the way also had a very odd layout IMO.

Having said that, the room steward in that area (the 8577-8561 and across the hall balconies) was "Rocky" and he was excellent.

As to the disturbance, a security guard appeared in the evening as we left Bermuda outside room 8561. They stayed in shifts until the man was removed when we got to Boston. The wife (I assume it was his wife) and another person stayed on the ship and finished the cruise. Apparently, this person (who got the hook) got into an altercation with one or more people (either pax or crew) in the casino and other places on the ship and the Captain finally confined him to quarters until he could get the hook. I thought it was funny that the rest of his family stayed on board. I didn't see any of it personally but there were several ladies in the hallway just railing on him one evening, and the wife had to bring him food from the WJ until he was kicked off. It was surreal seeing a security guard in the hall for 2 days.

I thought the cabins in the stretched areas were more popular...shower door vs curtain...perhaps less worn. we booked late and could not get into the être he'd area... evidently opinions vary.

They do have shower doors which was nice.

Cabins in stretched section Port ending in 068-082 - Starboard ending in 568-582. Interior cabins are directly across the hall.

I do remember seeing a post that some of the new interior room had a strange configuration...was it the ones where the short side of the rectangle faced the front and back? But I thought it was just interiors that that applied to?

We are going on the Emchantment in August, but I believe we are in the old section, so I'm not much help!

We were looking at JS cabin 8584...Which I am now assuming is part of the "old" original

ship. Anything bad about this one (which must be the spot they cut the ship in half )

that I should be aware of? Thanks in advance! :)

concur. we did a cabin crawl our first sea day and we saw a few of the stretched area cabins.. the bathrooms were..well weird.. the ones with the door( as opposed to a shower curtain) actually looked.felt more cramped.

but that Aft JS.. hoo baby their balcony was nicer than ours( GS)!

This might help Just off Enchantment B2B as well as this Enchantment JS 8584?

Thanks Patti....

Before you posted I was doing a search for this cabin. Found some pretty hilarious threads mentioning the "stripper pole" at the foot of the bed in cabin 8584. :)

Assuming these are drain poles for the pool, we may have noise coming from the water draining and the pool over our heads?

I am trying to book for June of next year, and the treasured aft cabins are already booked. Bummer.... :(

This will be the first time on Enchantment, and first also for Vision class.

Enchantment is going into dry dock in December, so all the cabins will be fresh and have the shower door instead of curtain. I would avoid rooms under the casino on deck 4. We had 5 sleepless nights because of it, the noise occuring around 4am when they started dragging bar stools around in the small sports bar to clean. These were inside cabins. That said, I love the Enchantment and can't wait to sail on her for my 4th time!:D

Last April we did a b2b and were in Cabin 8124 that had the infamous pole at the foot of the bed. They are the drains for the pool, but we heard nothing going down the pipes. There are 2 diameter of poles. Some cabins have the smaller and some have the larger. We had the larger, but it really wasn't a problem.

With any cabin on Deck 8 on any Vision Class ship, our experience has been that you will hear the occasional chair being dragged on Deck 9 or if there is a pool party, you will hear music. But it really isn't that bad.

Is this confirmed? When Radiance went in for her enhancements, they did not replace the curtains with shower doors.

Great! And thanks again! :)

Then I will go ahead and book 8584. I was looking at 8590/8586 as an alternative just in case, but found a thread that mentioned that 8584 was actually a bit bigger. I like the port side of anything leaving out of PC, as it is fun to be on the balcony on that side during sail away. :)

Yeah, that was a shame. :( They really needed replacement!

Spent a lot of money on new "pay for" restaurants, but not the basics. Guess shower doors don't bring in the extra $$$ ;)

We were in JS 8562 when we sailed on her. It also had a stripper pole. Woo hoo! Great room. We did hear noise from above but not too bad. Videos of the room are on YouTube.

I was in cabin 2074 on Enchantment in May and found the accomodations quite comfortable. I didn't realize at the time we were in the "stretched" part, and thats why we had a shower door. My complaint was that the light switch for the bathroom was on the outside of the bathroom, and every time I went in I had to come back out to turn on the light! :) You would have thought I'd have learned after several days... Our windows were 2 windows side by side rather than one "picture" window, but still let in a lot of light. The beds were comfortable and the linens nicer than I had anticipated...

P.S. The room was nice and quiet, which made me very happy, I am a noise freak!
