How does snorkeling Key West compare to Freeport?

We can only do one or the other. Key West or Freeport. Does anyone have expreience with both. Comparing the water clarity, fish, reefs, etc. Key West has a cattamaran out to a reef and Freeport has a lot of options. Recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Would prefer to do Key West due to the itineary and onboard in Freeport (last day of cruise).. but if Freeport is much better for snorkeling.. we'll change plans. Thanks!!!

The Bahamas have some of the clearest water in the world. The reefs off Key West can be good snorkling on a good day, but between the 2, I would recommend Freeport.

 

Key West is a much cleaner and safer town than Freeport. Take advantage of that and explore Key West on land.

I completely agree. Snorkel (or do a snorkeling excursion) in Freeport and explore in the wonderful little Key West! Love walking around that town!!
