Doing something special for anniversary

The cruise we're doing in March 2013 to the Panama Canal with RCCL is in celebration of my parent's 50'th wedding anniversary. Does anyone have any suggestions of what we can do on board to make it extra special for them, ie: something the cruiseline can set up, like a special cake one evening, as an example, or something we ( my sister and I) can do on our own? Not sure if what ship we're on makes any difference, but it will be Vision of the Seas.

I am sure they will prepare a cake for you. Call RCI in advance and talk to the Maitre 'd onboard to confirm.

 

Other choices would be one of the specialty restaurants.

 

I am not familiar with RCI, but do they offer breakfast or dinner on the balcony?

What about them renewing their wedding vows? This could be costly, but I think you could do something smaller like have a cake arranged for the occasion. You could also decorate the inside of their cabin on the first day if you can convince your parents to "give" it to you for an hour or two. Or you could have a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries sent to their cabin.

You could order a cake to be delivered to the dining table and it may be possible with RCCL ( I have seen it done before with them) to make arrangements for a violinist (usually from the atrium band) to play a special tune for them.

A nice surprise waiting for them when they first enter their cabin - champagne maybe commemorative toasting flutes - not sure what RCI offers.

You may want to dine at a Specialty Restaurant that night and you can order an anniversary package for their room.
