REFRESHER PLEASE - Phoning Home From Nassau

I tried searching, but most of the info I got was from about 2 to 5 years ago and I was hoping things have gotten better with cell phones and coverage. It still looks like I need to turn off my TMobile Blackberry when we leave Port Canaveral and just buy a calling card once we are off the ship in Nassau and use a pay phone there. It's been a few years, does anyone remember where the pay phones are? Near the port? Also, do they sell the cards close by? I was going to use my phone for photos, but am now terrified of getting a $1000 bill for roaming. I wish I was more tech savvy and could figure this stuff out. Thanks for any help. We are leaving Monday! WOOHOO!!!

We just put ours on airplane mode when we went away in June. That is what everyone told us. We were still able to use the phone for taking pictures just couldn't receive or send text or go on the internet.
