We are officially booked on Amazara Journey

Well, today I made the plunge and booked the Journey for Sept. 1 for 11 nights to the French and Italian Rivieras....this is our very first cruise. While I'm excited, I'm also nervous. We're so used to booking a package for the Caribbean and that seems so easy.

We booked a veranda room.....I know we'll love the views. :) :)

I'm hoping the weather is warm...at this point I'm not sure what to pack. I did post on that thread...thanks for the link.

A girl from Azamara said it would be too cool to swim in the ship's pool. I thought it was still warm in Europe the first part of September.

Too cool, really?? I'm expecting the temps to be at least mid 70's. I'm taking my suit; not that I'm figuring on much time to swim.

I have no idea what the weather is like there in Sept. I'll have to see what the averages...but as we all know, the weather is unpredictable. ;)

A first cruise and you are going on the Journey - WOW, will you ever be in for a treat! You will be totally spoiled and if you ever go on a larger, mass-market ship after the Journey you will be very disappointed. I am a veteran of more than 80 cruises and went on the first Azamara one a few months ago and was hooked! Already booked for another next Spring. It has been many years since I was in that part of Europe in September, but weather was in 70's and close to 80 at times in Italy if I remember correctly...but you have to remember the water temperature is much cooler and water temps in the 70's is a little cold. Pack as if you are going to an all inclusive resort on land...you will have a wonderful time. Congratulations on picking a fabulous ship and cruise line for your first cruise!!;)

One of the reasons we never wanted to cruise is because we've been to destinations where the cruise ship people stop...and could have the use of our resort...and yes...mass-market ships...we never wanted any part of that. Thanks for the reassurrance...sounds like I really made the right choice for our first cruise. The destination played a big part in this decision.

So...sounds like I should pack to be able to do some layering as far as clothing is concerned. The packing will be my biggest worry.

I agree with CruiserTN! What a first ship for your first cruise. The weather is a coin toss whether or not it will be warm enough to swim. Pack where you can mix and match. Since this is your first cruise, you will pack too much! I am doing the Journey for the December 12-23 cruise and I will pack in one bag that I can carry on with a backpack.

You set the bar high for your first, relax, enjoy and have fun!

I've always been impressed with people who pack like you do. We'll each have a 28" plus a carry on. I've gotten much better over the years and learned things can be worn twice. I do like extra packing room for things we always seem to end up purchasing. ;) :) It's nice to know there is a self service laundry on the ship.

The self-service laundry is nice. The detergent is even complimentary, and there is even a TV in the laundry room that you can watch while you are waiting. Typical of Azamara - even the laundry room is done right!:)
