"chogs...aka chair hogs

I do not know whether this is my original idea or I saw it on a cruise line or at a hotel.

Suggestion:

Pool staff are directed to put a sticker on every empty and "reserved" chair every hour on the hour. If the chair is empty and the sticker is still in place an hour later, when the pool attendant makes the next round, the sticker is removed -- along with the items used to "reserve" the deck chair. It may be that at lunchtime a two hour window could be permitted.

Observer,

Great idea. Sort of like a meter maid who makes a chalk mark on your tire to indicate you've been in the spot more than the alloted time.

From a Cruise Critic news item dated 31JUL:

"...Norwegian Cruise Line has also been experimenting on its ships with a similar sticker system, allowing items to be removed from chairs after they've been unoccupied for more than 30 minutes. "

That would have been very handy on the Wind in July. Some people would take up two chairs, one in the sun by the pool and one in the shade !! So if they were a couple they would have 4 chairs "reserved" depending on their mood.

That is terribly greedy and shameless!

We've never had a problem on a Silversea cruise in warm climates until early afternoon when it gets crowded by the pool. It will be interesting to see what happens in the Baltics in a few weeks...the ship appears to be full. Though it will be chilly so hopefully there won't be a problem with CHOGS by the pool!
