mia10010 Posted August 1, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 1, 2012 I did a search here on cruise critic for a packing list a few days ago. I'm just going over it now, and I found the strangest thing listed under Cabin/Clothing Tips. It says: "Lock your toothbrush in your safe when you leave your cabin." I'm almost afraid to ask, but.............WHY???

I have not kept my toothbrush in my bathroom even at home since I saw a documentary where they swabbed a reg home bathroom.
westview1 Posted August 1, 2012 #5 Share Posted August 1, 2012 Maybe they think the cleansers will get sprayed onto the toothbrush when the cabin steward cleans the room? I can think of other reasons, but I don't really want to.

Razor_Poke Posted August 1, 2012 #9 Share Posted August 1, 2012 Go to Snopes dot com and search for tooth brush bandits:eek: This is basically an urban legend with many versions having sprung up over the years including one in which the hotel housekeeper gets back at a difficult customer. Illyria Posted August 1, 2012 #10 Share Posted August 1, 2012 I seriously doubt that inside of a safe is any cleaner...it doesn't usually get cleaned, and people put money, wallets and other things in there that collect more germs than almost any surface in the bathroom (no, I'm not taking the whole toilet-cleaning scenario seriously :) )

lillian marie Posted August 1, 2012 #17 Share Posted August 1, 2012 I take a plastic zip lock bag for my toothpaste, toothbrush, perfume, etc and leave those products in the closet when I am not using them so it's easier for the steward to clean the sink area. cathyz Posted August 1, 2012 #22 Share Posted August 1, 2012 Even at home our toothbrushes are in a special toothbrush house on the bathroom counter. They say bad things float around even when you flush.
CRUISE4JANE Posted August 1, 2012 #23 Share Posted August 1, 2012 JEEZ...........................this board is so entertaining. Now let me think of where I will hide my toothbrush in the future. Rare Banditswife Posted August 1, 2012 #25 Share Posted August 1, 2012 Thanks for the laughs folks. I have a cover for my tooth brush & I do not p--s off the cabin steward, I hope. Like someone else said- the safe is filthier than inside the toilette.
