buzzandjulie Posted May 14, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2005 Does anyone have any idea what the latest airline policy is about knitting needles with the airline? I would live to take my knitting with me on my flight from PVD to Seastac! But I remember right after 9/11 they were not allowed in flight bags
birdie16 Posted May 14, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 14, 2005 They are allowed, just have to be stowed for taxi, take off and landing.
montekat Posted May 14, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 14, 2005 I just checked under http://www.tsa.gov and yes, knitting needles are allowed. I will try to put in the link, but cut and paste if I don't do it right. <http://www.tsa.gov/interweb/assetlibrary/Prohibited_English_4-1-2005_v2.pdf>

terri23 Posted May 14, 2005 #5 Share Posted May 14, 2005 How odd! I would think knitting needles could do a lot more damage than cuticle scissors.
suziehmkr Posted May 14, 2005 #6 Share Posted May 14, 2005 Please note that this can be airport specific. Some airports do not allow them. My friend met me in St. Louis in January. She flew out of San Jose and was NOT allowed to take her knitting needles in her carry on. I suppose you could print out the TSA rules and challenge them at the baggage check.... but I have seen other threads where it does seem to be dependent on the airport also.
