Allure of the Seas Review- July 22nd, Eastern

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! Hope you enjoy my review. It's going to be long (i have a lot of information to report back!!) Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Background

We were at group of 24 for my cousins quinceanera. The group ranged from the ages of 15 to 60 to first time cruises to platinum members .Within the group, my immediate family (including significant others) was 8.We are all platinum members and have been on about 15 cruises between Princess, RCCL, Carnival, Norwegian and Celebrity.

Pre- Cruise

Usually we always book our vacations on our own. Since this was for the quinceanera, everything was booked through a travel agency in Miami. We received out booking number about 2 months prior to sailing. I was able to book all of our shows (for the 8 of us) as well as the speciality restaurants. I had no issues until about 3 days prior to sailing. I received an email from RCCL stating that the Comedy show we booked for the Wednesday was cancelled. RCCL then double booked us for the same night we were slated to see Chicago. Once on the ship we tried to numerous times to reschedule but they could not accommodate us. Not the end of the world but something that was just rather annoying.

Day 1- Sail Away

The 24 of us managed to arrive at port all at the same time. Boarding was quick and easy especially since there was a separate area for Platinum members. We were onboard by 11:45am. As we do on all our RCCL cruises, we headed to the Windjammer which was extremely crowded. We struggled to find a table but expected this as it usually is crowded on sail away.

Our rooms were ready by 1pm. My boyfriend and I decided to catch up on sleep from our weekend and miami while the rest of the group toured the ship (I have included pictures that my father took of the ship). We were in room 10724, an ocean balcony room all the way in the back of the ship. Initially, I was concerned to be so far back but once on the ship, I had no complaints. Upon arrival, we found our daily compass and our platinum coupon books. We actually used majority of them which was a nice treat!

The room had plenty of space although the shower seemed much smaller than on other RCCL ships.

Our room attendant was awesome. She introduced herself on the first day and went through a bunch of questions to make sure she understood our preferences. Our room was clean and looked brand new every day and night!

By 3pm we received 2 out of our 3 bags. Side note: Numerous bags were delayed as it was pouring from about 1 to 4 pm. RCCL stopped loaded bags until the weather cleared up. We unpacked and before we knew it, it was time for the drill. Our station was located at the Aqua theater. The drill was for about 20 minutes and life jackets were not required. This was also one of the only times I was overwhelmed by the crowd of the ship.

From there, we headed up to the Pool deck for sail away! We all grabbed drinks from the bar and watched the ship sail away. It was a bit windy but the weather had cleared just in time. There also was not a large crowd as I have seen it the past. I guess it was attributed to the weather but that was a disappointment.

After sail away, we realized we still did not have our third bag. We received a message on the TV (I really enjoyed the system they implemented. You receive messages from the ship, review your bill, review your reservations etc. all on your tv) that our bag was pulled by security. We were guided down to the Naughty Room on the 2nd floor.

We arrived to a huge line in the Naught Room. There was an X-Ray machine that your bag was then put through again with you present. From there, they asked your permission to search your bag. Many people had knives, irons and bottles of alcohol which were all seized by security. We had a case of water which we did have alcohol in but those bottles were in the middle of the case. Security seemed confused when they opened our bag (still not sure why it was pulled). They kept asking if we had mineral water. Finally, the one security guard pull a bottle from the side, look at the seal (which was not broken) and apologized for the misunderstanding. We were free to go and yet beat the system!

Following our naughty room experience, we were off to the open bar welcome party. This was a part of the package for the quince which was awesome. The staff at RCCL was great and brought us any drink we requested. From there we went to dinner in the Main Dining Room and then just went to the casino. We were all exhausted and wanted to get a good night’s rest for Nassau as we arrived at 7am.

Back to work for now!
