xxjulzxx Posted August 20, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2012 Anyone know if there is access to public beaches in Freeport near Port Lucaya? Thought about doing the $10 day pass at the Radisson, but wondered how pricey the drinks would be. Ideal would be to find a strip of beach bars with public beach access to hang at! Any info would be greatly appreciated! :D

NCTribeFan Posted August 22, 2012 #3 Share Posted August 22, 2012 No beaches at the port. It's a working port. $5 per person each way shared taxi/van takes you to Lucayan Marketplace area. There is also a hotel there that sells beach access. Something like $10 pp. I know there aren't a lot of threads about Freeport, but there are *some* on there. You just have to hunt for them. One would think that the only thing in the Bahamas is Atlantis. This review thread give photo instructions on how to get to the free beach in Freeport (and Nassau, too, if interested). http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1605466 Start at post #28. paradise825 Posted August 22, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 22, 2012 there is a public beach by the police station in port lucaya. Also a little bar and restaurant called Billy Joes with the best conch fritters and fried lobster. it is right on the beach.

Rainbowfalls Posted August 25, 2012 #6 Share Posted August 25, 2012 Sorry to bother in but where did you find information about the Radisson and are the day passes only sold at the desk?
NCTribeFan Posted August 26, 2012 #7 Share Posted August 26, 2012 In a thread here, of course! :p Like I said, it takes some searching to find things and the search function isn't terribly user-friendly. I have to use the "advanced search" to find anything useful. I'll see if I can find some links and post them.
Nickymjw1 Posted August 28, 2012 #8 Share Posted August 28, 2012 if you walk across from port Lucaya Market place to the Lucaya resort there is an attendant once you get close to the beach. It's on the left side of the Casino when facing it. They charge $10. I am pretty sure one of the pools had a swim up bar. We stayed on the beach. Drink prices were comparable to cruise ship prices I think. If you are looking for a more quiet beach and cheap u can take a cab to Junkanoo beach club. Cab was a little more, $5 for a chair and umbrella if you buy a drink. No pool. What I have read about the free beach by Port Lucaya is that it is very rocky.
