Kim Fontaine Posted September 20, 2012 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2012 Is it possible while doing a carnival Glory Boston departure new England canadian Cruise to embark in Portland on monday rather than Boston on Sunday: I know i would be expected to debark in Boston on return > I know this is done when you "miss the boat" but is it possible to do for other reasons? sail7seas Posted September 20, 2012 #2 Share Posted September 20, 2012 You must clear it with the cruise line. Do not assume you could show up in Portland saying so sorry you missed the ship in Boston and expect you automatically will be permitted to board. You well may not be. Written permission (e-mail) from the cruise line is the only way to go.
Rare Keith1010 Posted September 20, 2012 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2012 As mentioned confirm this with the cruise line and if they say yes get the confirmation in writing. Keith
Krazy Kruizers Posted September 20, 2012 #4 Share Posted September 20, 2012 Call your cruise line and check with them. If they agree -- get it in writing!! I really doubt if they will agree.
Rare 1025cruise Posted September 20, 2012 #5 Share Posted September 20, 2012 Actually, that will violate PVSA (transporting from Portland to Boston), so odds are no.
Rare Keith1010 Posted September 20, 2012 #6 Share Posted September 20, 2012 Either way rather than speculate on something the Original Poster needs to confirm this with the cruise line. Keith

I believe you will not be given permission to do what you want. What you say is not true as this would not be done if you missed the boat. You would not be permitted to embark in Portland. It is a violation of the Passenger Vessel Services Act to embark on a foreign flagged ship in one US port and disembark in a different US port without stopping in a distant (not in North America) foreign port. sail7seas Posted September 20, 2012 #8 Share Posted September 20, 2012 Another vote for Violation of PVSA and it will not be permitted. Please let us know if we are correct. Good luck.
