Fine and Jim Dandy Posted September 23, 2012 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2012 Just off the Jewel and we had sparkling wine and a $15 box of chocolates waiting in our room. We have always received a fruit basket with our wine as platinum guests. I asked the onboard cruise consultant about it and he told me this was a fleet-wide change as of a couple weeks ago. People complained about the fruit so chocolates are now being delivered instead. Platinum guests will also continue to receive chocolate covered strawberrys. This was news to me so I thought I would put the word out.

jame_g Posted September 23, 2012 #3 Share Posted September 23, 2012 I would like this better. Not a big fruit eater. And I can get fruit at the buffet, in the restaurants, or room service when I do want it.
Rare BSR Posted September 23, 2012 #4 Share Posted September 23, 2012 Just off the Gem and also received the box of chocolates. Still got the basket of fruit which we didn't eat.
DevCruise Posted September 23, 2012 #5 Share Posted September 23, 2012 The chocolates sound a lot better to us as well. :)
WaldosPepper Posted September 23, 2012 #6 Share Posted September 23, 2012 Oh I like this! Since we usually book a suite, we already get the basket of fruit, so it's nice to know that I can look forward to a box of chocolates as well! Thanks so much for the info. :)

Fine and Jim Dandy Posted September 23, 2012 Author #11 Share Posted September 23, 2012 And how did you know the chocolate was $15.00? It was Godiva chocolate and appeared to be right out of the gift shop. Still had the $14.99 price tag on the back.
Us2inFL Posted September 23, 2012 #12 Share Posted September 23, 2012 Chocolate box sounds good to me too. I think there was a lot of waste with the embarkation fruit basket, you can't really tell what people prefer. We always get and keep a supply of bananas in the room. HMK8273 Posted September 23, 2012 #17 Share Posted September 23, 2012 Love the idea of chocolate v. the fruit bowl! Godiva is even better. We never ate the fruit in the room - so it turned into a waste on us. Way to go NCL!

DMH15 Posted September 23, 2012 #19 Share Posted September 23, 2012 Sounds great because we too book suites and already get the fruit. My mom loves having fruit in the room. But I will zero in on the chocolate for sure!!!
Rare mking8288 Posted September 23, 2012 #20 Share Posted September 23, 2012 Nice treat as we don't find the fruits in the basket to be nearly as fresh as the ones in the buffet. Oh, what if someone is allergic to chocolate ... just saying :D  In our case, we will cheerfully take it & bring it home with us, if it "survive" our next sailing uneaten (over the fruit basket/plate anytime.) NCL seems to be frequently changing their offerings Latitude members - which is a good thing, I suppose, "listening" to feedbacks. Next, I will see if I can track down a NCL ship pin for our 2011 sailing when they supposingly did away with it.
Fairydust312 Posted September 23, 2012 #21 Share Posted September 23, 2012 Disappointed that points don't show up until after a cruise is completed. We would otherwise be hitting Gold on the third day of our upcoming cruise. Guess we'll have to wait until the next one to nab the chocolates!:D

MR NW GUY Posted September 23, 2012 #23 Share Posted September 23, 2012 :confused:OK... Just having fun here. So, now it is $14.99. What's next? I just checked the Godiva web site and the least expensive box of chocolate is $24.00 and that is on sale with 20% off. Makes me wonder... is NCL serving knock off chocolate. http://www.godiva.com/subcategory/seasonal-gifts/fall-special-values/id/226.gdv?cm_re=17SEP12-_-LEFTMERCH-_-FALLSALE
