techgirl502 Posted October 15, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 15, 2012 The 3rd party tour I wanted to do is sold out and it doesn't appear Celebrity goes there. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Dagny Posted November 12, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 12, 2012 This is easy to do on your own, it's right in town only a few blocks from the cruise pier. You dont even need a taxi. Cruzan Rum Factory Estate Diamond 3 Frederiksted, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands (340) 692-2280 The cost is $4 for adults and free for children under 6 years of age. Tours are done Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 until 4:15. You don’t need to call in advance, just show up; a new tour begins every seven minutes or so. There are stairs you have to climb up and go down.
Nole0202 Posted November 12, 2012 #3 Share Posted November 12, 2012 Unfortunately no tours on Sunday when we are in port.
Ms411 Posted November 12, 2012 #4 Share Posted November 12, 2012 Unless they moved the factory, you need a cab to get there. Check Google maps for an idea as to how far.
techgirl502 Posted November 13, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted November 13, 2012 What about the Captain Morgan visitor center? Celebriry doesn't have tours to this either.
RZ3 Posted January 4, 2013 #6 Share Posted January 4, 2013 You need to drive or take a cab to it. We drove to it in our rental and it wasn't a problem other than the fact that I couldn't really enjoy myself since I was driving. :-) Send them an email asking if they will be open. They opened for us on Sunday specifically because ship was in port.
rcprncss Posted January 18, 2013 #7 Share Posted January 18, 2013 Has anyone walked this? It shows it's one mile from the port on google maps. But, is that a highway where there is no place to walk? Just curious.

But, is that a highway where there is no place to walk? Just curious. We were there last year and I believe it is farther than 1 mile. 3-4miles would be my guess.it was a two way road not sure about sidewalks. We took a taxi and had a great time. Only problem was that our driver didn't come back to get us. The factory called a taxi friend and they were able to get us back to port. Great rum samples. susiemcc Posted February 3, 2013 #9 Share Posted February 3, 2013 we would like to do this when we are there in a couple of weeks - how long does the tour last so as we can judge when to book a taxi back.:)
rcprncss Posted February 4, 2013 #10 Share Posted February 4, 2013 I read on TA that a tour is only about 15-20 minutes. There is room tasting afterwards. Plenty of tasting ! :) Since you are going before me, would you come back and give us your review?
RZ3 Posted March 11, 2013 #11 Share Posted March 11, 2013 We didnt't get to take a tour the day we were there, but we did get to enjoy the samples. Ask for a Cruzan Cheescake. Deelishus! Here's a direct link to the visitor's center at the factory. As you can see it is NOT downtown. It's a few miles away. Not hard to find. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=17.703997,-64.824888&ll=17.704104,-64.824899&spn=0.003076,0.005981&num=1&t=h&z=

Google Earth shows it on the corner of Hill and Queen streets in downtown Frederiksted, but that ain't a distillery. Thanks for the accurate info! According to Google Maps, it's 8.7 km (~5.4 mi) - definitely a cab ride! Edited October 19, 2013 by JandBR_PHX
CincyCarib Posted November 26, 2013 #15 Share Posted November 26, 2013 (edited) This is easy to do on your own, it's right in town only a few blocks from the cruise pier. You dont even need a taxi. Cruzan Rum Factory Estate Diamond 3 Frederiksted, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands (340) 692-2280 This is most confusing. GoogleMaps shows the distillery only a few blocks from the cruise pier, which is exactly what you said (but no one else seems to agree). But it also identifies that location as the Frederiksted Historical area. There is no Estate Diamond Street there. Then again, GoogleMaps is pretty good at offering you anything you ask for, whether that's really its location or not. It can be aggrevating sometimes. If you ask Googlemaps to give you directions from the "Cruzan Rum Factory, Estate Diamond 3, Frederiksted, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands" to the address "Estate Diamond 3 Frederiksted, St Croix", you will find it to be nearly six miles (9.4km) out of town. Uh, yes, that would be the same address. SO... Has anyone here actually BEEN to the distillery, and if so, where the H#!! is it?!! Dagney, what did you find "just a few blocks" from the dock? In San Juan (Puerto Rico) there is a lovely visitor center run by "The Rums of Puerto Rico" Association with dioramas and displays where you can get samples of rum, but it's not really a distillery. Is that what's located in downtown Frederiksted? That wouldn't be so bad; we've seen more than enough actual disitllery tours, and we might appreciate something within walking distance even more. kayehall Posted November 26, 2013 #16 Share Posted November 26, 2013 I don't think Cruzan rum is available to purchase in the US? Is this correct? Can you only buy it in St Croix?
rokncow Posted November 27, 2013 #17 Share Posted November 27, 2013 Cruzan is available in US almost everywhere.
CincyCarib Posted November 27, 2013 #18 Share Posted November 27, 2013 I don't think Cruzan rum is available to purchase in the US? Is this correct? Can you only buy it in St Croix? Next to Captain Morgan and Bacardi, it's the most commonly found rum in the U.S. -- why, we even have it here in Ohio (albeit only a fraction of the varieties they make). If you're asking for it, ask for "Croosh-Un"; if the storekeeper gives you a look of ignorance, repeat as "Cruise-Anne" and s/he'll probably know what you mean. If still no response, take your business to another place; this one's bourbon, scotch, and gin knowledge and selection probably won't be any good, either.
