Is the water filter?

I am going to Alaska with Island Princess. I drink only water and tea. I wondered if the water they serve in the dining room is filtered?

All the water used on the ship is actually produced on the ship via a desalination process that takes in salt water and created what amounts to distilled water. It is similar to the process that some bottled water companies use to create their product.

 

While occasionally ships will have a problem and the water will taste a little salty usually it tastes fine and is perfectly safe to drink.

There was adiscussion on this topic a while back, but I can't find it for you. In a nutshell, the water is filtered and cleaner (?) than bottle water, but I brought 2 cases of bottle water for the familiar taste.
