cabin next to the anchor or cruise crew door

Recommended Posts

I can't help you with exact locations on those ships but I can guarantee you won't miss any early shore excursions if your room is directly about where the anchors are or where the side thrusters are. We have had cabins on different ships at different times over both and it made for an early morning many times.

Have a great next cruise.

Ha! I was under an anchor on a HAL ship and did not --repeat not-- need an alarm clock. I did need to be pried from the ceiling the first time it happened. After that, I was ok with it.

Actually, it's not that common. You only hear it when the ship is anchoring offshore and you will be tendering in. Depending on your itinerary, that might be often or not. On the NE/C run, I think it's only three mornings out of ten or twelve days -- again, depending on the ports. Might be more often in the Caribbean.

never saw an anchor used on the Explorer Eastern Cruise. Even in Labadee, they tied up to moorings. Now, they do wench in the mooring lines, but I suspect that is not nearly as loud as several tons of chain dropping out of the ship.

Just where are the anchors located? tomc said he heard one being lowered. I booked the Princess Caribbean late, so did not have much choice where to take a room. We are sitting midship --so low--it looks like we could reach out our window and touch the water. Where oh where is this anchor??? (however, I think my 18 yo granddughter could sleep through anything)

The anchors are located in the front of the ship on the Destiny and Fantasy class ships.
