vanheve2 Posted November 16, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2012 Hello! I was wondering if anyone has heard any news about Sky going into dry dock next year. There are no cruises available the first 2 weeks in October. I checked the list on Cruise Critic of refurbishments and nothing is listed, but I did see something on another site that said it was going to dry dock in September 2013, but with no details. Looking on possibly going in December 2013, and be nice to know what they are fixing up:D
rvsullivan Posted November 16, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 16, 2012 If it is going into drydock, it will be like all of the others I'm sure. Ships upgrades to systems, carpet, maybe some rearranging, new suites, TV's etc. They all rotate through every few years.
david_sobe Posted November 16, 2012 #3 Share Posted November 16, 2012 Isnt the ship leased? Not sure NCL would spend money on a ship they dont own. But I hear so many versions, not sure what to think
Ilovesailing Posted November 17, 2012 #4 Share Posted November 17, 2012 The Sky was refurbished in 2009 so I doubt it would be pulled in that soon.

vaguy22 Posted November 17, 2012 #6 Share Posted November 17, 2012 David--Ncl brought the Sky outright in July. go to Wickopedia and key on Norwegan Sky for the details. Ilovesailing-- ships have to be drydocked every 3 years or so for hull work so she is due.

DevCruise Posted February 26, 2013 #9 Share Posted February 26, 2013 The captain at the end of January said it was going into drydock in October. He didn't say what they were doing aside from a bunch of bridge work (we were on the bridge tour at the time).
lovetocruise2020 Posted February 26, 2013 #10 Share Posted February 26, 2013 here is hoping they do at least the softgoods in the suites, as the Sky is lovely and she deserves it. :)
CruisinSince06 Posted August 21, 2013 #11 Share Posted August 21, 2013 Hi All, Just wondering if anyone has any updates on the Sky's dry dock at the end of September. NCL's press release doesn't specify and simply states routine maintenance . I know that some have mentioned bridge work but I'm curious if there will be any cabin refurbishments such as the installation of flat screen TV's. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
krolyat Posted August 22, 2013 #12 Share Posted August 22, 2013 I have wanted to go back on the sky since our first cruise on her and would love to see the suites upgraded. As long as it doesn't get the price tag of the newer haven suites.

js Posted September 16, 2013 #16 Share Posted September 16, 2013 Although we sailed NCL Dreamward back in 1993, our first NCL after that was May 2012 on the Sky for 4 nights. We had such a great time on the Sky, we changed our RCCL Allure cruise to the Breakaway (we live in NY) for this past July. We loved the Breakaway and booked an S4 in the Haven on the Getaway for next August. That being said, we are sailing the Sky again in an OS in March and I would LOVE to see some updating but with only 2 weeks, I'm sure there won't be much in way of the cabins but I can always have hope LOL

LimeyUK Posted September 17, 2013 #20 Share Posted September 17, 2013 I heard that they are putting in all new flat screen tv's in the cabins and adding the Moderno restaurant.
RuFFy08 Posted September 28, 2013 #21 Share Posted September 28, 2013 I heard that they are putting in all new flat screen tv's in the cabins and adding the Moderno restaurant. I was on this ship in August and I heard the same thing. New Carpeting, flat panel televisions and Moderno. GSC is receiving major upgrades too. Buzz was that they are planning on building a hotel on the private island where passengers can stay overnight or for a few days.
