PenguinLife Posted November 18, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 18, 2012 My wife and I are thinking about taking a last minute cruise in a few weeks, and there are a number or balcony cabin options still available, including both extended aft and aft corner. I was wondering what your general thoughts are on aft balconies? I know some people love them, but is there issue with engine vibration, etc? We have done balconies before, but they were either forward up high, or most recently forward cove balcony on Magic (forward most cove balcony on starboard side). thanks Ike

We did a true aft balcony on the legend and I don't recall any more vibration. My dh didn't like it because it was not a covered balcony and he likes being on the side of the ship. I would like to do aft wrap, but refuse to pay the higher prices. We really don't spend alot of time in the room anyway.
douglinc@msn.com Posted November 18, 2012 #4 Share Posted November 18, 2012 We had an aft balcony on the Conquest and loved it. Doug
Onceuponatime Posted November 18, 2012 #5 Share Posted November 18, 2012 We had an aft wrap on deck 6 for our Honeymoon on Vistory last year. We felt slight vibration when docking but other than that it was very smooth. The balcony was huge! We loved it, but I don't know if we would spend the money again. I'd rather do a regular balcony, and spend more money on excursions or in the casino.
PekingeseLady Posted November 18, 2012 #6 Share Posted November 18, 2012 Oh I love the Aft-Wrap, I would spend 200 to 300 more for a aft-wrap verses any other balcony, best of all worlds. Of course I am a must have a balcony type of person. I always search the forums for the cabin with the best balcony. I love having my own outside area as were pulling into port in the morning. Having room service and taking my coffee out on deck. Glass of wine before dinner. Spotting whales, dolphins, flying fish, sunsets and sunrises, relaxing while waiting for DH to get done with the bathroom. :D Oh just a little engine vibrations, after the first nite I didn't even notice it anymore. Councillady Posted November 18, 2012 #7 Share Posted November 18, 2012 I have had two aft wrap cabins and LOVED them. I am spoiled now that is all I want. It is so nice to have all that extra balcony room especially if there is a large group together, it is nice to have sail aways parties on the balcony!;)
gusandgidgetsmom Posted November 18, 2012 #8 Share Posted November 18, 2012 I guess I am in the minority. We have had vista wrap and aft balconies and never would book them again. I like the aft portion of the ship but just not the balconies that face backwards. The balcony rooms seem narrow to me and the wrap has too little privacy. Just my opinion. You asked.
