BadDaddy44212 Posted November 20, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 20, 2012 My wonderful wife turns 50 on our cruise in February. We will be on the Mariner; the special day is our second full day and this is a sea day. We are traveling with a group and will have dinner with them in the MDR, but other than that I thought I would plan out a full day of fun for her. In the group are her two adult daughters, her friend and husband, and my mother and her husband. This is where you, the romantic types out there, can help! What would be the perfect day at sea? Also, is there anything special that the staff could do to help out? I was thinking about also recruiting people from our group to take her from place to place, so she doesn't get stuck with me for the whole day. She is not much of a spa person (no massages or hair cuts), likes to dress up, loves good food and isn't afraid to have a cocktail or two as long as it is 5:00 someplace. Thanks, I look forward to your ideas!
margeecruiser Posted November 20, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 20, 2012 Hi, Bad Daddy Why not go for a vow renewal ceremony. We did this in 2009 and it was very romantic and special. She can dress up, have champaigne and have her picture taken. With all your friends and family along, it would be great. We did the Vow Renewal package from Celebrity, but Royal Caribbean is very similar. It cost less than doing it in our hometown. Good Luck! Margee;)

Awesome - I'm melting at the thought!
alfaeric Posted November 20, 2012 #4 Share Posted November 20, 2012 I'm doing the same birthday in just over a week on the Liberty. The gift IS the cruise- but I did opt for a few things- bought the room decorations, and have booked the evening at Giovannis. Didn't think about the spa- I'll have to work that in- good idea. Also- talk a LOT with your cruise rep at RCI- mine has been very helpful- and I'm betting he's thrown in a few things of his own to the trips. Funny about our celebration- the actual birthday is on turnaround day. Supposed we can walk around the FLL port... :D
swigso Posted November 20, 2012 #5 Share Posted November 20, 2012 Talk to her two adult daughters my wife sounds a bit like yours Pretty low maintenance but a pamper in the spa Massage, manicure, pedicure is always welcome the second full sea day is usually a formal night, Arrange for a photo session after she has had her pamper, make up done and all dressed up. Lasting memories and have a nice photo of her with her daughters. As its a sea day whilst all this is going on you can have some fun in the casino😜
motherof Posted November 21, 2012 #6 Share Posted November 21, 2012 Flowers, at a minimum. Perhaps a romance package?
Sinppu Posted November 21, 2012 #7 Share Posted November 21, 2012 If you have a balcony cabin, room service breakfast is great. Even if you don't, a Mimosa or Bellini to bed in the morning wouldn't go amiss ;)
grand isle joe Posted November 21, 2012 #8 Share Posted November 21, 2012 Why don't you bring a General's uniform and have her bring a steno pad and play "The General and the Biographer"....then find the desk and let things roll.........;)

MMluvsWDW Posted November 22, 2012 #10 Share Posted November 22, 2012 I sound a bit like your wife and while I wouldn't like a "spa" day a mani pedi with my mom and sister would be wonderful! Also, what about a nice dine in lunch at a specialty restaurant. Eating is always a great celebration!! I'm sure she'll have an amazing day whatever you do :D

I will have the girls decorate the cabin door for her. I am trying to decide if the both of us hit the specialty restaurant for lunch, or if I take the group to dinner at one... Keep the ideas coming!
