sewut Posted December 16, 2012 #1 Share Posted December 16, 2012 We are sailing next month on the Crown in a mini suite. There is a free glass of champagne at sailaway. How is that delivered? We are planning to be at a Meet and Greet during sailaway. Does the room steward bring it in a glass or a mini bottle or what?

We are planning to be at a Meet and Greet during sailaway. Does the room steward bring it in a glass or a mini bottle or what? It is in individual glasses and not drinkable. If you are not in your cabin he will leave it there usually with a napkin over each glass. Cheers!
Gunner22aa Posted December 16, 2012 #3 Share Posted December 16, 2012 Not the best! Sparlging something but not true Cahmpagne. We only sail in suites and decline the offer. All I ever ask for is a cork screw to open a good bottle of red
BoardwalkBabe Posted December 17, 2012 #4 Share Posted December 17, 2012 Ours came later in the afternoon however I don't recall the exact time. It was two glasses presented on a tray and DH drank them both as I don't like champagne.
caribill Posted December 17, 2012 #5 Share Posted December 17, 2012 I don't like champagne. No problem as it is not really Champagne.
paul929207 Posted December 17, 2012 #6 Share Posted December 17, 2012 I would not plan my day around the champagne. If you happen to be in the cabin, have a sip. That will probably be all you want.

Loonbeam Posted December 17, 2012 #10 Share Posted December 17, 2012 Dear lord, the one time I tried that stuff almost put me off carbonated beverages forever. I honestly think the stewards have a running pool on how many people can finish a glass..
Rare 1025cruise Posted December 17, 2012 #11 Share Posted December 17, 2012 I drink it because it is free booze on a cruise ship, not because of the quality.
Pam in CA Posted December 17, 2012 #12 Share Posted December 17, 2012 I drink it because it is free booze on a cruise ship, not because of the quality.I'd have to be truly desperate to drink that stuff. It's sparking wine that tastes like bad soda water. :)

Altidude Posted December 17, 2012 #15 Share Posted December 17, 2012 I drink it because it is free booze on a cruise ship, not because of the quality. One glass had my wife shooting free throws on the Island last March with her titanium hip. We are firm believers in its medicinal qualities. KruzPrincess Posted December 17, 2012 #16 Share Posted December 17, 2012 I just got off the Sapphire and didn't get offered any champagne or whatever in my mini-suite. I would have turned it down anyway, but wasn't given the option.

Happy ks Posted December 17, 2012 #18 Share Posted December 17, 2012 I just got off the Sapphire and didn't get offered any champagne or whatever in my mini-suite. I would have turned it down anyway, but wasn't given the option. Consider that a favor. We've always gotten ours and I do the toast and a sip, pretty bad. Then you have dirty glasses in your cabin until that evening. I wouldn't miss it at all if it didn't come. Perhaps Princess will read this thread and do away with the sparkly? ;) Of course, then you see people guzzling the stuff at the champagne fountain thing. Rare gotta cruise again Posted December 17, 2012 #19 Share Posted December 17, 2012 We didn't receive ours the only time we sprung for a mini-suite. Would have like to receive it: more the principal of the thing than for the beverage! My first champagne waterfall back in the 80s had the real French stuff being poured into the stack of glasses! Not too many people attended as seas were rather rough. This was before the big atriums in ships too. I got to pour the entire bottle into the top glass all by myself--no one else was holding the bottle. I remember looking at the labels and saying to others around me that they were using champagne and not just some bubbly stuff! They were also pouring real champagne for those in attendance to drink too :p Ahhh, the good ol' days
OCruisers Posted December 17, 2012 #20 Share Posted December 17, 2012  Be sure to pour it OUT and leave the empty glasses in the bathroom. Once we just left ours (w/napkin off) ... our room steward seemed to think we might still want them so they spent the night with us! Sailingpeace Posted December 18, 2012 #21 Share Posted December 18, 2012 It is sparkling wine. Our steward usually asks when we would like it served and then brings it at that time. Probably better to drink cooler than warmer and before bubbles are gone.
caribill Posted December 18, 2012 #22 Share Posted December 18, 2012  Be sure to pour it OUT Are you sure the ship's waste disposal system can handle that?
Aussie Gal Posted December 18, 2012 #23 Share Posted December 18, 2012 It isn't worth getting excited about it. It is pretty bad, it must be the cheapest sparkling wine that they can find. In October, I did manage to drink most of mine but my DH left his. We have had it a number of times and I think that it the taste has gone downhill over the years.
