ltcusarmy@aol.com Posted May 30, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 30, 2005 Anyone with recent first hand experience with taxi fares from airport to dock in Barcelona?
pcur Posted May 30, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 30, 2005 I don't know the taxi fare, but just for comparison info, we just paid for roundtrip transfers airport to ship and back with RCCL, and it was $46 pp. That's about $37 Euros, which is the currency you'll be paying the taxi driver. jbond Posted May 31, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 31, 2005 Last October we paid 23 euros from the airport to the hotel on La Rambla. La Rambla to the dock was 19 euros. I would guess that the airport to the dock would be about 28-30 euros. On the return journey, dock to airport, I'd recommend taking the transfer. It's easier, taxis are limited and it's pretty busy. ldholmes Posted June 1, 2005 #5 Share Posted June 1, 2005 We did this just a few days ago... 1 car w/ 2 pax and lots of bags... less than 25 euros... that being said there were 5 of us so we had 1 car and a minivan... 17 pieces of luggage! (2+ weeks we were gone) and we paid about 65 euros total... beats the $23 per person we would have paid for a one way trip and we got to go at our own time and had our luggage w/ us instead of it being loading onto a box truck w/ 60 other peoples luggage! Was there the name of the Taxi or are all like this...We have two traveling times...arrive in Barcelona and go to Hotel Aspis by Las Ramblas and then next day we need something from Hotel to pier. Do we flag down any taxi like in US. ? Are they all the same price. There are 2 people 4 bags. Thanks
DEL67 Posted June 2, 2005 #8 Share Posted June 2, 2005 Sydney777: There are designated taxi areas at the airport where the taxis (and you too) line up. There are plenty of taxis so the line moves fast, but only a few minivan ones. We needed a minivan as there were 3 of us and 2 wheelchairs so we had to wait for the one minivan taxi in the line to reach the front of the line. You can flag down a taxi to get to the pier, but if you need a minivan, you probably should ask the hotel to call one. One more thing. Apsis is actually an hotel brand name and there are several Apsis hotels near the La Ramblas so be sure to give the full name (eg. Gran Ducat or Atrium Palace). I also found it s good idea to have the address just in case the driver does not recognize the hotel name.
ldholmes Posted June 2, 2005 #9 Share Posted June 2, 2005 The only time we actually called for cabs were from the hotel to the port... at that time we requested a van and a cab... at the port in Barcelona there were LOTS of vans in the cab line after disembarking so not to worry there... there were several at the airport to the hotel as well we had to wait a few min because there were a few larger groups ahead of us.... lephysteria Posted June 3, 2005 #10 Share Posted June 3, 2005 When we were in Barcelona for our honeymoon cruise, we took a cab from the airport to a hotel because we arrived 2 days early. The cab fare was 25 Euros to go to the hotel and the two of us, and all 5 of our bags fit inside the cab. We were very impressed! It took only 15-20 minutes and we were at our hotel. Then the next morning, , we checked out of the hotel, loaded our luggage in the minivan arranged by the hotel (40 Euros) and headed to the ship. This took as long to get to the ship as it took to get to the hotel from the airport. I think we'd done much better if we found a cab, but the minivan was very roomy. We got to the dock early, and we now realize that we arrived earlier than all incomming flights, as there were only a handful of people in line for embarkation. We recommend getting to the ship as soon as your flight lands.
