WillWorkForCruise121 Posted December 20, 2012 #27 Share Posted December 20, 2012 Thank's for the replys. I have read before that u also get to order full meals in your room, do they still do that? Thank's When we booked the cabin we were not given full suite perks, just the Concierge lounge access. We had a normal seapass, not a gold one and as far as I knew we weren't able to order of the main dining room menu like they do in suites. I know we didn't have access to reserved seating in the theatre's or barefoot beach on Labadee (those all required a gold sea pass). It may have been pretty cramped trying to eat dinner in the room anyway as it's just a standard promenade room in terms of size. We were in this cabin on February 2012 on the Liberty OTS. I guess it could be different on other ships.
JM-1972 Posted December 21, 2012 #28 Share Posted December 21, 2012 We had this cabin last May on Liberty, loved the perks but it was noisy with the door banging when crew used the bridge at night. I had to wear earplugs even with them it woke me up sometimes.
sj25 Posted December 22, 2012 Author #29 Share Posted December 22, 2012 It looks as though I booked mine about 6½ months ahead. I was quite surprised to see the cabin available, so I immediately put a hold on it while we decided whether to take this cruise and then switched it to my NextCruise booking the next day. I called in about a week later asking them to put "No upgrades" into the booking's notes just to be safe. :) I would agree I was afraid after the fact if I was to get an upgrade would be when I wanted a certain room....but don't think I am ever gonna have to worry about an upgrade just never comes my way! We had this cabin last May on Liberty, loved the perks but it was noisy with the door banging when crew used the bridge at night. I had to wear earplugs even with them it woke me up sometimes. So we are not the only one and just not the Freedom being the problem with the door being very noisy! So would you do the room over again if you had the chance? Brit-Cruiser Posted December 22, 2012 #30 Share Posted December 22, 2012 Had this cabin on the Independence Transatlantic last month. The perks are good, but we found the cabin to be too warm...lowest the maintenance guys could get the aircon was 21 degrees. The door banging off and on all night was also bothersome, but they are not going to give the perks out for no reason. It's a trade off I guess and I'm not sure I would do it again. Unless they have changed the policy VERY recently, then Concierge lounge access IS included. We disembarked on 5th December and we know the person that had the Ben & Jerry "sweet" on the cruise following ours...they got the same perks as we did. We are not Diamond Plus and therefore would not have had lounge access but for the Ben and Jerry "sweet". As I have said before is it noisy... there is a service corridor with a heavy door at either end right next to the room, which leads out onto the bridge spanning the royal promenade. The crew use it at night to get from one side of the ship to the other we did not get one unbroken nights sleep, but there was a letter in the room on specially headed Ben and Jerry paper saying if the disturbance was too much they would move us to another room. Although how this would work if the ship was full I do not know. Hope this helps.
Islander500 Posted December 23, 2012 #33 Share Posted December 23, 2012 Just off the Liberty and my DD and her friend loved the "sweet" and its perks, especially access to the Concierge Lounge for free drinks before dinner and Barefoot Beach in Labadee. Both of them were given the Gold card, too. Also were able to use the lounge before debarkation with coffee and private escort to leave the ship. They want that stateroom every time they cruise again. :D

They did try to fix it for us..but never offered us another room. The last time they did work on it...did last our last 2 nights so was happy. So to anyone that is a light sleeper be prepared that it is noisy due to the door.
redwell Posted December 27, 2012 #35 Share Posted December 27, 2012 i was looking forward to staying in this room but we may have made a mistake we were in 6621 this year never heard anything, i am a light sleeper my husband can sleep through anything. if it gets too much i hope we could move but if the boat is full that will be impossible
TravlGrl Posted December 27, 2012 #36 Share Posted December 27, 2012 This is the first time I've heard anyone complain about noise associated with the Ben & Jerry's "Sweet". We sailed in that cabin a few years ago, so perhaps the ship has settled so much over the years that there are now door issues. Take a look at the video in my signature for those who wanted to see the size of the cabin. We booked her a second time (first time was on Freedom) on Liberty in February. The key perk for us is the Concierge Lounge access, though my husband loves his ice cream. We ended up giving away ice cream at the end of the cruise since we didn't use all of our coupons. For the person whose TA said there is no Concierge Lounge access, ask them if they've ever sailed in that cabin, toured the cabin, seen the cabin, or even know about the cabin. I think they're talking just to talk. Even some RCCL reps don't even know about the cabin. I feel so fortunate to be part of the CC community and learn so much here that we'd otherwise not know about the ships!
Agutaya Posted December 27, 2012 #37 Share Posted December 27, 2012 (edited) We just booked this "Sweet" on the 12/12/13 Liberty 4 night cruise. We've always wanted to try a Promenade stateroom anyway. Thanks to all who shared information about this stateroom. And thanks TravlGrl for the video. It was very informative. If a picture is worth 1000 words a video must be worth a million! :) On a 4 day cruise will we get a Welcome Back party, top tier event or bridge tour? Rare John&LaLa Posted December 28, 2012 #39 Share Posted December 28, 2012 OK, here is a question no one seems to have asked yet. do you get dbl C&A points? we booked it onboard this past week for May 5th. probably not since there is not an S in the cabin category, but i can always dream

You get no suite perks other than access to the Concierge Lounge and ability to reserve ice skating show tickets in advance.
Daghis Posted December 28, 2012 #41 Share Posted December 28, 2012 I wonder whether having access to the Concierge Lounge includes access to the Concierge and, thus, access to get a Barefoot Beach cabana. I intend to find out in about 11 weeks. :)
sj25 Posted December 28, 2012 Author #42 Share Posted December 28, 2012 I know we was told yes we could get the cabana at barefoot beach if we wanted. We also got to use our gold card for sitting at shows. The area for the pool that is above for gold card members. We got a coupon and had to have it marked every day and then turn it in at the end of the cruise. We could get up to 2 scoops of ice cream when we got it each day. I never asked if I could have 2 different ones...lol No double points it is like sweet...they say You do have Concierge Lounge ...the extra gold card they give you works for the door. Islander500 Posted December 28, 2012 #43 Share Posted December 28, 2012 You have access to Barefoot Beach. Presume you can get the cabana there if you want; i believe it's the same Gold card.
Daghis Posted December 28, 2012 #44 Share Posted December 28, 2012 When you talk about a gold card, do you mean the Concierge Lounge card that's in the cabin, or are the SeaPass cards gold, too? I had assumed that the SeaPass cards were regular (white).

I've never stayed in B&J, but normally one SeaPass card does everything (eg: if you are Diamond Plus, your [one] SeaPass card opens your cabin door, the Diamond Lounge door AND the Concierge Lounge door). So would you do the room over again if you had the chance? Yes if the price is right, we only did 5 nights and spent very little time in the cabin.
