Ryancoke Posted January 6, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2013 We're considering the Legend and wondering how many people get vacinnated and for what if they are going inland on some Mayan ruin tours.
kingoftheicedragons Posted January 6, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2013 The only thing we've gotten vaccinated for would be Hep A and Hep B. I'm assuming you're talking about going to Belize? We've been to Mayan ruins near Costa Maya, Mexico, on our first trip and did not get any vaccinations for that. I'm thinking you should be fine, but think about your needs and your situation. If you ask your doctor, they will likely consult the CDC guidelines--the same ones you can find online yourself. But talk it over with your doctor and let him/her know that you'll only be in the area for a matter of hours.
jtdlmc Posted January 6, 2013 #3 Share Posted January 6, 2013 We've never been vaccinated with any "travel" vaccines. My doctor advised that it isn't necessary unless you are going off into the jungle for a week, going to a known malaria infested area or some such adventure. TwinRix (hep A and B) is good to have, even just for staying at home, but it is costly.
serene56 Posted January 6, 2013 #4 Share Posted January 6, 2013 you are not in a port long enough that you will be required to get vaccinated. Even if i went to cozumel for a week I would not get vaccinated
ccruisequeen Posted January 6, 2013 #5 Share Posted January 6, 2013 I'd recommend a flu shot just to protect yourself from any virus aboard. H
