Epic smoking

Hi just heard you can only smoke on your balcony if 14th deck or higher....is this true?I was under the impression if you were in a balcony room you could smoke on balcony.

From NCL.com FAQ's:

What about smoking on the ship?

We want you to be comfortable on board, so public areas throughout all our ships are smoke-free. If you smoke cigarettes, you can do so on your balcony, in the casino or in the Cigar Bar (where available). If you prefer pipes or cigars, you can smoke in the Cigar Bar or designated smoking lounge. Also, you can smoke cigarettes, pipes and cigars outside on open decks (just not around food venues, sports decks, kids’ pool areas and other designated nonsmoking areas). Smoking inside your stateroom will result in a $250 cleaning charge added to your onboard account.

Thanks for posting this. Am on the Epic later this week and didn't even realize that smoking was permitted there. That said, I would enjoy a

cigar(s) and don't know if I will be tempting fate to smoke some on my balcony. Can't see how they can allow cigarettes but no stoogies.

This seems like a silly difference in the rule to me also. I have occasionally smoked a cigar on my balcony and the only thing I have heard from neighbors is "that's a nice smelling cigar". Then again I do not smoke cheap "stogies". ;)

We are non-smokers and we prefer to smell nice cigar smoke over cigarette smoke anytime anywhere.

I sometimes sneak into the Cigar Bar just to take a sniff.

I'm going to say you're tempting fate. The smoking policy is one of the inserts to the Dailies. Someone enjoying their balcony might not enjoy your cigar smoke and call guest services.

Ah, yes. One person's "sweet smell" is another person's "stench." You never can please everyone. I would recommend limiting your cigar smoking to cigar bars and open decks. NCL probably (for lots of reasons, including fire hazard liability) would be best to simply prohibit smoking altogether or only permit it in designated bars.
