Flying to Miami from NY

As a rule, from any of the metro NY airports to FLL/MIA/West Palm or Orlando, the price is the same. Lots of non-stops, lots of times to choose from. If your ship is out of FLL, the FLL airport is 10 minutes and $10 (per cab) away.

Generally, you will find the lowest prices to FLL, followed by PBA and then MIA. One of the reasons this is true from the New York area is that one can take low-cost Spirit Airlines from LGA. They do not fly to MIA. If you want to look more specifically at air fare options to alternative airports all at the same time, go to http://matrix.itasoftware.com/cvg/dispatch/prego and select something like 100 miles for nearby airports at the destination end of your trip. (Of course, if you like, you can always do something similar for the origin end of your trip.) You can then select the "airport" page to see what fare and flight options are available by each airport. As usual, if you find something you like, go to website for the relevant airline for booking as this site is for comparison shopping only.

If there are two of you flying from New York and the cost difference is like 80-100pp then book to FLL. Any lesser then it isnt really worth it when you factor in the cost of taxi or Limo ride round trip.
With that being said..we fly to FLL at a savings of over 100pp. Got a limo from www.larryslimo.com for the 6 of us at a cost of 33.pp round trip. So the cost to flying to FLL was 70 bucks.
Hope this helps.

We just booked a flight out of LaGaurdia to Ft. Lauderdale for $180 R.T. non-stop for next February on Spirit. They were the cheapest around for noon-stop.
