When I picked up my certificate at Harrah's, they gave me a booklet entitled, "Casinos at Sea - You're Going Places". On the back page, it lists what is included in the comp cruise. Among the list, which includes, free drinks while playing in the casino; Onboard comps based on play; Full Service VIP Casino Host desk; and The latest slot machines, etc.

The final item on the list states: Liberal gaming limits, generous credit lines and VIP gaming areas.

Does anyone know what it means by "VIP GAMING AREAS?"

I've only been on the Sky (through TR) and never saw any VIP gaming areas~ the casino is so small I doubt I missed it.

RE: NCL cruise to Canada/New England out of Boston in September of 2015:

I was told by a Casino host (I was booking the room in LV to go get the cruise voucher.) that Harrahs pays for an inside stateroom but the "free" does not include the taxes or port fees. I have been unable to find the cost of those two expenses. Upgrades from inside are $150pp for Oceanview; $700pp for balcony.

Anyone know what the missing fees are?

Mine have run from $300 to$400 /person on a week long cruise.

call up the phone # on the paperwork.

port fees + taxes should be ~$400 total per person.

and my last cruise (feb 2015) to Bahamas was $70/pp to upgrade from inside to oceanview, and $300/pp to balcony.

your ship must be very full to have $700/pp upgrade for balcony.

or the host is getting mixed up with per person and room?

ie: $75/pp = $150/room to upgrade for oceanview?

Port Fees and taxes vary depending on the itinerary. Call the CAS phone number to check on different options. If you are flexible on when and where you want to go you can find cheaper options, and lesser costs to upgrade. Traveling during non-peak times you will probably find it costs less to upgrade. When paying for our cruises way back when, we were happy enough with inside cabins. Would much rather cruise more often in a cheaper cabin than have to wait another year to cruise

With CET comps, we have been given balconies. Just got off cruise on Getaway with our first comped mini-suite. It was a little larger than the balcony, but I wouldn't pay extra for it. There are others that always want to pay that upgrade for a suite, but it's not necessary for us to enjoy that cruise.

I am hoping I get a cruise offer soon from Harrahs/Showboat!

I do go to AC occasionally... went in July for 2 nights comped, went in August for 1 night comped & then just got back from 2 nights comped. Spend about $200-$350 on each trip.

I did get an email from a casino host, so now have my own casino host. Hoping that means I may get a cruise offer soon, as we are looking to book a cruise for Winter this year or spring/summer next year!

Do you think I should email my casino host to enquire about the TR free cruise offer? Or do you think that is pushing it & just wait to see if I get an e-mail or postcard?

A host contacted you after only spending $250-$350? Must have been gold plated $100 Bills. I'm very surprised.

I live less than 30 minutes from the casinos at Tunica, but I haven't been playing as much at the Harrahs properties; lately I've been going to Fitzgerald's or Hollywood. Did certain levels in the TR program get this offer? I haven't received one and think it is probably that I don't have enough play on my card.

I think it is at least Platinum (the 2nd from bottom level) that gets the offer. My husband received one & I did not. I am lowest level. We played in Vegas on our TR cards on a comped trip last year. Reading the experiences here, we won't be taking a trip to claim it. (Thanks for posting!)

We also were given a cert. for a Carnival coupon from a local (El Dorado, Shreveport) casino. We had been on Carnival Conquest & said never again, it would have to be FREE before we'd go on Carnival again. So, it was. We chose the Magic & while it wasn't RCI (our fave, Diamond Level)...it was worth what we paid. Free inside room difference to upgrade to balcony was 200pp. So for 600 TOTAL for 2peep, excellent value.

Once on the ship, our play was recognized for drink card on the 2nd night for both. Additional comps were strawberries in room, meal in a specialty restaurant w/drinks. AND we both received and additional coupon in each of our names for ANOTHER free inside room. The catch: must be booked within 14 days of return. So one unused, but I get to take my daughter & granddaughter (her first) cruise.

Honestly, I think if we keep getting these, it will be hard to go back to paying $2-3k on Royal Caribbean for a balcony room, even with Diamond level benefits. We still lost more than that in the casino, but it is at a minimum a $2k savings for us.

Wow - I'm surprised, too that a casino host contacted you with that kind of play. At our local casino, Turning Stone, my husband was a sapphire player and I was the beginning level player when we received our first comped cruise on NCL. The first year we received a voucher, we didn't use it because of timing. This past July we took our first comped cruised with the second voucher he received and it was fantastic. So after play in the casino while at sea we were able to get our next cruised entirely comped - this time balcony and all on even for a blackout date. Before our last cruise in July, my husband and I hadn't sailed in about twenty years. We have rediscovered our love for it and plan on going a few times a year. :D
