I am going to the Grand Biloxi in September to get a voucher for a cruise from October to March. On my mailed offer, it mentions the Epic. I really want to sail on that ship so I called NCL today to get some info. It kind of scared me when I mentioned it to the lady and she was surprised it was on there. She made it sound that those offers are kind of sent out like "corporate Christmas cards" and that they all say the same thing to get you to go and get your certificate. She made it seem that you don't really know what you are going to get until you are at the casino and they talk to you. I hope this isn't the case cause I will be really ticked if I drive all the way to Biloxi and only can use it on their lesser ships. I am a Platinum player only so I could see how they might do that as a come on and then only give the Epic to Diamond or better players. Anyone know if what is listed on your offer will for sure be the ships that you have the opportunity to use? Also do you think I can get the drink certificates?? I am new here, thanks everyone.

The card they send in the mail does say the same thing for everyone. When my boyfriend (who is also platinum) received his first offer, the card in the mail mentioned the Dawn to Bermuda. We were disappointed when we picked it up and that cruise was not actually offered to him. Now, was it because of his tier level? I really don't know exactly how they figure it. He received another card in the mail a few months later and we figured we'd give it a shot, and that time, the Dawn to Bermuda and the Gem to the Bahamas were both offered to him. We ended up being able to go on the Dawn. He just picked up one more offer, just because we happened to be in AC anyway. It again listed all of the cruises from the card he got in the mail. So, I don't think there's a guarantee that you'll be offered all of them, but there's a good shot of it, and they might be trying to book up some off-season cruises over the next 6 months. The drink cards are included in the package, and they are good in the casino only. Good luck...I hope you get to go on the cruise you want!

I am diamond but I think it has more to do with your rate of play than your tier status. I was getting great offers before I became diamond. I think because I play slots fast. Risking more per hour. Most of the time the cruise certificates will have a few ships that are not even on your offer and even some different itenerary than what is listed. They even added a few 11 day cruise that was not listed. Most of my certificates have been the type you have 60 days to book and a year to sail. But I have also had the type that they will not tell you anything until you call. It is also limited, so you need to book fast for the most choices. I never could go on those because they would be ones that sail next week. I can't do those. I am picking up my 5th certificate this year on Labor Day in Las Vegas. I have had Epic on 3 of my certificates. I might book it if I do not get the Getaway.

Very interesting and now even more think I wont get the Epic but, oh well will just take what I get, who knows, will have to see. I looked closely at the offer card again last night and really couldnt tell as what the small print was saying. Will let everyone know on this thread when I find out though. Thanks for replies!!

Has anyone added a third person to a cabin after receiving the free offer for two? I'm curious if they charge full price, or if they stick with the discounted 3rd person in a room. BTW, we received an offer from the Atlantic Club in AC - and we only played there one day and we didn't spend very much $$ - woo hoo!

I asked about adding my grandson. It was full price for him.

Yes, i got the free off for two and then I added a third person. all I was charged was the third person fee of 399.00 plus port fees. We upgraded to a balcony and the third person was not charged the upgrade fee. Only the first two people had to pay the upgrade.

Do you remember if you paid the difference between balcony and inside (or whatever cat. and inside) or if you were offered a different price? I see a lot of people saying that they paid $200 to upgrade, but what if the price difference is like $500 pp? Just curious.

Also, do all free cruise offers from the casinos come with a free drink card? If they do, does the second "guest" get one too?

Thanks in advance!

The booking agent told me that it doesn't work that way exactly. The cost to upgrade with the voucher does not necessarily directly correlate with the price difference that you see between categories when looking the cruise up online. I think there are standard prices that they charge that depend on the cruise, ship, time of year, etc.

All of the TR offers have come with the drink cards included, both for the person receiving the offer and for the other guest in the cabin.

I hope this helps!

  • 2 weeks later...

I am hoping I get a cruise offer soon from Harrahs/Showboat!

I do go to AC occasionally... went in July for 2 nights comped, went in August for 1 night comped & then just got back from 2 nights comped. Spend about $200-$350 on each trip.

I did get an email from a casino host, so now have my own casino host. Hoping that means I may get a cruise offer soon, as we are looking to book a cruise for Winter this year or spring/summer next year!

Do you think I should email my casino host to enquire about the TR free cruise offer? Or do you think that is pushing it & just wait to see if I get an e-mail or postcard?

Hi! I have one booked. So far first cruise, and I did not upgrade, so inside cabin. I get the free drinks card in casino. How does this work? Do you have to be gambling to use the card? Do they have bars in the casino that you can just go up to and use it? Do you need to tip there, or can it be added to the room, the tips?

It can only be used in the casino while gambling, I tipped a dollar each drink and got great service~ they knew my name and what I liked to drink within one day! They would even get me drinks while I wasn't playing just watching my DH play so if you do tip cash you'll get way better service!!! :D

Anyone recommend if I should contact my 'casino host' to see if I am eligible for a free cruise from Total Rewards or not?

I am just a gold level player, but have gone the past 2 months to Atlantic City (for 2 nights each time) & going again next month. Not sure if it is based on frequency of going or how much you gamble.

I have not received any free cruise offers in the mail. But would love to get one! Any advice?

From what I have seen, you can only get the free cruise when you get a voucher in the mail and that particular offer is available. I have been a platinum player for about 3 years now and have only had that offer twice in those years. I had even called my Vegas host before I got this last one and she told me straight up that I would have to wait and see if an offer came as she couldn't just "give" me one. You can always go to totalrewards.com and check your tier score with harrahs and see how you stand. Not trying to downplay a gold tier score but everyone when you sign up is a gold player. I would think you would at least have to be platinum before the cruise offers came. You have to get a 5000 point tier score to get to platinum. Just check on line, you may be very close and that could help you get the cruise offer!! Hope this helps!!!

Thanks that helps a lot! Guess I will just hold out hope then. I am close to being platinum, but not quite yet.

Thought I read somewhere that some people that were only Gold status had gotten postcards or emails too. That is why I was curious about if that was possible.

Guess I will be researching & booking another cruise myself again! Thanks!

I received a cruise offer earlier this year from the Harrah's where I play about once a month.....and I was just Gold!

Then, about 2 months later, I received a second cruise offer from a Harrah's casino I had played in only one time (for about 3 hours) in the past 3 years.

Can't figure out the system. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to who get the invite, as a friend of mine has been Platinum for the past two years and has never received an invitation.

Don't lose hope. I was gold for 11 years before I got on a lucky slot machine and earned 3,800 teir points in one night with $100 in 2012. This was before the bonus points you get now. Over the next two days I earned 11,000 teir points. Thats how I earned my first cruise offer. I do not use a host. I have had 5 cruise offers since Dec of 2012. I do average about 3,000 teir credits per weekend visits. It is not how often you go or how much you spend. The best advise I can give is to play fast and long. This shows a bigger risk per hour. You will see that in your comps.

When I picked up my certificate at Harrah's, they gave me a booklet entitled, "Casinos at Sea - You're Going Places". On the back page, it lists what is included in the comp cruise. Among the list, which includes, free drinks while playing in the casino; Onboard comps based on play; Full Service VIP Casino Host desk; and The latest slot machines, etc.

The final item on the list states: Liberal gaming limits, generous credit lines and VIP gaming areas.

Does anyone know what it means by "VIP GAMING AREAS?"
