JAYRAY1259 Posted February 12, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2013 Going on the Oasis in Nov. 2013 went on the Allure last year. My question is this; on the Allure we were in stateroom 11264 category 7. On the Oasis we are in stateroom 11214 a category 5 stateroom. They are basically the same ship and the cabin layouts are the same. What is the difference between the category 5 and the category 7. They are just down the passageway from each other. both balcony, outside ocean view. The brochure shows them to be different colors. on the deck plans. HaraldOslo Posted February 12, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 12, 2013 From what I understand the difference is.. price! :-) And that is related to location. Oh, and some of the D-categories have a sofabed or something to allow for 3 passengers.
wscott52 Posted February 12, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 12, 2013 I think the midship cabins are considered more desirable. I don't really know and want to tag this to see future responses.
tahqa Posted February 12, 2013 #4 Share Posted February 12, 2013 The big difference between D5's and D7's is location. The D5's tend to be midships which reduces the feeling of motion you get from the ship (the closer you are to the center of motion the less effect you get). You can use stabilizers to minimize roll but there's not much you can do for pitching so midships is better in that regards. D3's and D4's tend to be connecting cabins or have greater sleeping capacity. D2's are going to be higher capacity or connecting and also have better location (midships). D1's have the bigger balconies -- even though the description doesn't say so.
