sharke Posted February 16, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2013 Anyone have first hand knowledge of this inside cabin? Looks close to elevator but convenient. Wondering about noise. Any info you can give appreciated.
Ital-Iz Posted January 30, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 30, 2016 Did you end up staying in this cabin? I'm booked in 8333 on an upcoming cruise on the Norwegian Sun - and was wondering if you thought the elevators were too noisy.
Rare Clay Clayton Posted February 1, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 1, 2016 Can't answer your question about Sun...but can tell you that on Jade, we were in a similar cabin and had no issues.....YMMV. Have you considered any of Sun's sideway's cabins? They all seem to be much larger than the regular insides.
don't-use-real-name Posted February 2, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 2, 2016 Anyone have first hand knowledge of this inside cabin? Looks close to elevator but convenient. Wondering about noise. Any info you can give appreciated. Yes the aft side of the cabin 8333 abuts up to the Main Elevators - may be some degree of noise but not pounding thudding shuttering - more like bells dinging with the arrival of the car at your floor and a singing of noise (air) being pushed by the elevator in its shaft. My real concern would be all that open space forward of where your cabin is located - ??? crew maintenance service space ??? - but for all that goes probably an area quiet as a church house mouse. Since there are no other adjacent cabins - you will not hear any thumps or unusual activity from your neighboring cabins. One of the posters to this thread suggested you look into the side-ways inside cabins forward and aft of the 8333 location. The side-ways cabins are noted for just a tad bit more usable space and are great for mobility impaired folks those using wheelchairs scooters etc. this since the WC and scooters can not be stored in the passageways outside the cabin. With the side-ways cabins when you enter the cabin it is spread out right and left fairly equally in width instead of a sort of a hallway with depth. This gives more usable space right in front of the entry door. If this be your first cruise take a peak into other staterooms as you move about the ship. Usually making contract with one of the cabin stewards when he is cleaning these cabins is a good time to get an idea of what it would be like on your next cruise even if it is not on the same ship. When you meet other folks moving around the ship and you get around to discussing cabins - do what is called a "Cabin Crawl" where you show me yours and I will show you mine. These maybe done on a grand scale through a Roll Call Meet & Greet function. Wait till you see some of the Suites and larger cabins and dream on some are as large as 2 and 3 cabins put together. You can be just as easily satisfied in an inside cabin if you don't spend a great deal of time in it. Taking shore excursions or self-guided tours maybe some time spent in the casino if that is your thing or out on a deck reading a book attending a cooking presentation in one of the theatres - there is oh so much to do without dwelling upon time spent in the cabin - but it doesn't hurt to maximize the space and location. Having the elevator real close can easily be a blessing to rapidly and efficiently move about the ship. If you have found to have made a bad choice of location - check with the Guest Services desk for alternatives - the upgrade fairy maybe of help if the ship is not sailing full to capacity ! Wish that there was video documentary of each cabin on every ship to better get an idea of the merits of each of the cabins and its features pro & con ! But till then there will be Cruise Critic.
