jkneern Posted October 21, 2014 #1402 Share Posted October 21, 2014 It's based on the cabin, if you are all sharing the cabin and are over 21 then you all have to purchase. And yes they will charge each sign and sail card.
Rare Wanna_Cruize Posted October 21, 2014 #1403 Share Posted October 21, 2014 We currently had to book 1 adult with DD (21) and 1 adult with DD (20)once onboard we will be switching cabins so the girls and my husband & I are in the same cabin. My question is DD (21) wants to buy the Cheer's package will she be able to do this without either adult buying the package? My husband & I are just going to pass as we go and our DD (20) is underage. Thanks I assume you booked that way to get a past-guest rate or something for both cabins. I would suggest you first go to Guest Services when you board and have the girls switched to their own room, and you and Hubby in the other room. THEN have DD(21) go to the bar and purchase Cheers. She is then the only person in the room over 21, and therefore the only one required (or able) to purchase.
SNJCruisers Posted October 21, 2014 #1404 Share Posted October 21, 2014 After a long break from Carnival, cruising other lines (Princess, Royal, & Celebrity), I am back to give Carnival another try.....Any thoughts? The only mistake you made was choosing Carnival if you had a non drinker in your group and two of you wished to imbibe. If you had chosen Celebrity, then you would have had the two drinkers receive the classic alcohol package, while the non drinker would have received their soda package, and all 3 packages would have been included for free as long as you booked an OV or higher cabin. We took advantage of this fantastic promotion last year on the Summit, earlier this year on the Silhouette and we will again enjoy it over Thanksgiving 2015 on the Equinox. The package also includes all espresso based coffee drinks, fresh squeezed juice, and bottled water. Also, no 15 drink limit per day.

It was wonderful and, yes, we got the Classic drinks package free as we were booked in a balcony cabin. Celebrity's package is top notch as it also includes bottled water! I don't drink specialty coffee, but DH enjoyed them. On the Solstice in 2011, DH was not drinking, and I purchased the Classic package for myself only, no questions asked. I like Celebrity a lot (with DH), but when I cruise with the girls, they want a livelier experience. Last year, the girls and I did Princess and that was fun. But I think Celebrity would be too sedate for them. I guess I have gotten used to drink packages on the other lines. Hate to be penalized now for one non-drinker out of three. Wouldn't Carnival be ahead getting 2 out of 3 in a cabin to buy the package? They make no money off our friend anyway.

gtaylor Posted October 21, 2014 #1409 Share Posted October 21, 2014 I believe that it would be all three purchase or none could purchase. Exactly how they handle that at the bar, I have no idea. That's just the rules as published. Everyone of drinking age in the cabin must purchase. gary

Jenna1983 Posted October 21, 2014 #1411 Share Posted October 21, 2014 Is cheers still available for purchase on the second day? Or is that nixed with new pricing? I do not plan to be on the ship (San Juan sailing) the first day until we have to be to sail that evening (check-in, drop-off and head back out) and will likely hit bed earlier. So it seems silly to have 8 days of Cheers when I'll only use 7. Still available to do this?
grizzlyflat Posted October 22, 2014 #1412 Share Posted October 22, 2014 I apologize if this has been asked and answered. A couple of years ago we sailed on the Inspiration and tried the Finlandia martini tasting. I understand that the tasting is not included in cheers. If I want a full sized martini like the melon crush or spicy pineapple is it included in cheers. I have searched the drink menus and can't find it. We will be sailing on the Imagination. momof3cruisers Posted October 23, 2014 #1414 Share Posted October 23, 2014 Yes I did ask and was told only buy the glass with the Cheers program. I kind of befriended one of the bar tenders at the casino (extra tips) and chatting, so near the end I started getting it unopened. I'm a Dr Pepper fan and Carnival doesn't carry DP so I had already brought some in my cabin Thanks. That's what I was guessing. I tend to have a bar waiter or two that I try to stick with so perhaps I will be able to make a new friend quickly. I usually tip my couple of people extra anyway. The tip is charged on the package price at the time of purchase. You may tip extra per drink, but no tip is charged per drink The only extra add on per drink is any local sales tax while you're in a US port. This would include debarkation day until the ship hits international waters as well as a port stop like Key West.
Ellaleah Posted October 23, 2014 #1418 Share Posted October 23, 2014 Does everyone tip extra when they get a drink". If I can rationalize the 43.00 a day which includes 15% gratuity, that is one thing. Do I have to plan on another $1. On every drink I'm served? I usually will tip bartenders that I frequent a lot a little extra here and there. Some people do tip on each drink, its really up to you depending on the service you receive and what you feel is appropriate.
brooklynfc Posted October 23, 2014 #1420 Share Posted October 23, 2014 When I read this thread a few or 30 pages ago, there wasn't a definitive or even a more to one side than the other on if the bartender will let you put the amount of each plan on two different accounts. We are already going to have to exchange cash for the Cloud 9 spa "couples package" (we are just friends cruising together, but its cheaper) as I remember they won't split that. I don't want to and neither of us is bringing that much cash to do so with the Cheers program. Any consistent answers on this lately?

I can tell you that when I cruised with my sister in April 2013 we were able to each have our cheers charge on our own account, but we had to go to the table set up next to the bar on the Lido deck to accomplish this. No problems! Enjoy!

I sailed on the Liberty in September with a friend and even though we were in the same cabin, we had two separate sign and sail accounts/folio numbers. We purchased the Cheers program at the atrium bar and our accounts were charged separately. No problem whatsoever. If you have separate onboard accounts they can't 'force' you to put both purchases on one. As long as you both purchase there is no issue.
